Ahh, Acornkit. You are my oc but you're not my fav! ;D Petal for life! Hope you agree readers!!! Now voila, chapter one!!! XD

Acornkit woke up pressed against the side of the nursery, her sister, Petalkit, snoring on top of her. Quashing the urge to let out a distressed squeal, she shoved the grey she-kit off her and on to the soft nursery floor, cushioned with a soft layer of fresh moss and bracken.

Petalkit, startled by the abrupt movement, opened her eyes and blinked rapidly before closing them again and curling up into a tight ball. Petalkit's gentle snoring soon filled the den again.

Acornkit glanced exasperatedly at the two empty spots beside Silverbreeze, their mother, in which they had fallen asleep in. The nursery was so full though, making it almost impossible to go to sleep in one spot and wake up in the same place. Only the older cats could stay in one spot for the night. Craving fresh air instead of the stale breeze that circled around the nursery den, Acornkit tip-toed outside, avoiding the lashing tails and extended legs of sleeping queens and kits.

The dawn patrol was returning when Acornkit pushed her way out of the nursery. Duststorm padded through the thorn tunnel first, followed by Berrytail and Smallpaw. All cats were carrying prey, which was rare for Leaf-fall.

Smallpaw was the oldest apprentice and Acornkit could only faintly remember when he himself had been in the nursery. It was expected that his warrior ceremony would be held soon. He held his head proudly; his jaws were laden with prey.

Wolfstar emerged from his den underneath Highledge, which was where he addressed ThunderClan during ceremonies or clan meetings. "Good hunting, I presume," he mewed, shooting a glance at the stocked fresh-kill pile.

Smallpaw puffed out his chest. "I found a whole nest of mice and then caught a blackbird!" he boasted and Acornkit couldn't help but roll her eyes at the arrogant apprentice.

Berrytail's eyes shone. "Never have I seen such a natural hunter! His senses are so sharp!" she purred.

"He pretty good," Duststorm admitted grudgingly.

"Good!" Berrytail looked shocked. "His one of the best hunters in the clan even though he's an apprentice and you call him good!" She curled her lip contemptuously at the brown tabby tom.

"He's not your apprentice," growled Duststorm.

"I'm pretty sure that he's not yours either!" she shot back, her pelt starting to bristle.

Acornkit watched with wide eyes as the fight escalated. Crumpled curls of flesh were accumulating on their foreheads, the sign for aggression. Was the chilly weather already fueling resentment in the clan? She doubted it. There had to be another reason for the constant bickering.

"That's enough!" hissed Wolfstar. "We are all loyal ThunderClan cats here! I don't want any skirmishes within our own clan, for StarClan's sake!" There was an underlaying expression in his golden eyes that Acornkit identified as grief.

I remember now, thought Acornkit, satisfied with her conclusion. A few moons prior to the day, the former ThunderClan deputy, Hawkthorn had died after a fox attacked the camp. This must have provoked testiness in the Clan.

Berrytail dipped her head and Duststorm stalked away, murmuring indistinguishable words to himself. Acornkit was close enough to see both of their pelts bristling slightly. She was so absorbed into their argument that she didn't hear the paw steps creeping closer and closer to her.

"Attack!"

Acornkit had no time to react as three cats leaped onto her back, scrabbling to get a hold on her sleek shoulders. Her muzzle was slammed to the ground as her opponents pushed her head down. Summoning all her strength with her blood roaring in her ears, Acornkit flipped herself into the air so her back was on the ground, even though she knew it would be exposing her soft underbelly. She felt satisfied as she heard the muffled yelp of her attackers as they were flattened to the ground, all of them still clinging to her pelt.
