Foxlegs pelt pricked with excitement. He was on his way to the Moonpool and he was desperate to know who the other chosen cats were. He had been pondering who ThunderClan's other selected warrior cat for the past moon, and was eager to meet them. He had come to the conclusion that it was probably a senior warrior, like Shadestep of Badgerface.

There!

Chesnut brown fur flashed at the edge of his vision. It's ThunderClan's other chosen cat!

"Foxlegs?" Acornpaw's familiar voice rang out among the trees as she jumped out in front of him. "What are you doing here?" Understanding flashed in her eyes. "You're ThunderClan's other chosen one aren't you?" she mewed softly.

"You're one of the chosen few?" Foxlegs blurted out rudely before he could stop himself. She was just... so young!

"Yes," Acornpaw sniffed. "Yes, I am. Why are you so surprised?" She glared at Foxlegs, and without giving him a chance to reply, mewed, "Well, we better get going then."

Foxlegs lead the way to the Moonpool and, before long, they were scrabbling down the cliff face that dipped down into the Moonpool clearing.

"Wow," Acornpaw breathed. "It's beautiful."

And it was. A thin, burbling stream was tricking down a sheer mossy crag and into the centre pool. The Moonpool practically shone with star-shine; it's depth's were swallowed by the pinpricks of light. Despite the wintry climate too, the pool was fringed by lush reeds, tipped with massive pink and white flowers.

Foxlegs didn't get a chance to reply before two slim and glossy furred cats slipped into the hollow. RiverClan. Foxlegs studied the pair. He recognized one as Beechflower, a dusky brown tom that Foxlegs that met at a gathering once. The other was a slim black and white she-cat with amber eyes that he hadn't seen before.

"Minkeye!" Acornpaw blurted out suddenly. "You were on that patrol before, with Beetlelegs, right? I escorted you to camp, where you could meet Birdsong!"

"Acornpaw." The black and white she-cat returned the apprentice's greeting with a polite nod. Then, she turned to him. "And you are?"

"Oh, uh, I'm Foxlegs." Foxlegs gave a brief ear flick.

Minkeye dipped her head to him like she did with Acornpaw. "It's a pleasure to meet you." Her pungent breath stank of fish and Foxlegs stifled the urge to flinch away.

"Foxlegs. It's good to see you. I haven't spoken with you in moons! What kept you away?"

Foxlegs looked up, surprised. It was Beechflower. The small brown tabby was lashing his tail, with an agitated air. "My mentor told me not to get to close to cats from other clans," he mumbled recalling Tinyflame's words. He and Beechflower had been good friends when they were apprentices, and his former mentor had discouraged their relationship.

"Oh. I always thought that it was because you didn't like me."

Foxlegs felt a twinge of guilt.

"Hey!"

Foxlegs looked up to see four cats pelting into the hollow. ShadowClan and WindClan. ShadowClan's chosen two are..... Let's see... Darkmuzzle and Brownfoot, and Windclan's chosen ones are Grassfeather and Redwing. But where are SkyClan's chosen ones?

The information they exchanged with the new cats was limited and brief. They sat in wait on the cold stone, the waterfall pouring into the Moonpool behind them, sending up clouds of mist and spray that landed on Foxlegs's  pelt and soaked his fur. He shook out his ginger pelt uncomfortably and his stomach was knotted with unease.
