Chapter 2

Tear, Part 1 by Son Lux

    "Well shit."

Everyone stayed silent as I shifted uncomfortably under their gaze. "Well ask something!" Sam said.

"I don't know what to ask. Uh, d-did you die here?" I asked, stuttering over the stupid question. The planchette moved quickly away then back to yes.

"It's so strong." Brennen said looking up at Elton who had his eyes glued to the board, occasionally looking at his camera to see if it's in focus.

"Okay. Do you mean any harm?" I asked, my heart beating fast. The temperature seemed to drop and I suddenly felt sick but I kept my composure.

The planchette moved around the board landing on letters "Y" "E" "S" and that's when I couldn't hold it anymore. I turned my body, keeping my fingers on the board and, embarrassingly enough, hurled in the grass behind us. "What the fuck. Okay we need to say goodbye." Sam hurried out.

"No, no. I'm fine. I wasn't feeling well anyway." I pushed off, spitting on the ground and slowly turning back. I felt dizzy so I leaned on the closest thing to me. Which happened to be Brennen but at the moment, I didn't care and I hope he didn't either. "Let's just keep playing." Views right?

"Are you sure? We can stop." Elton said, worry clear in his voice.

I nodded. I looked up but something wasn't right. I frowned. "Where's Corey?" I asked. Everyone seemed to look in the same direction.

"What the fu–Corey!!" Elton yelled, his flashlight landing on a body. "Okay we're leaving. Pack up the board and let's check on him. We need to leave."

"We gotta say goodbye first." Amanda hurried out.

"Goodbye." We all said but the planchette went to no. I looked up, scared. My eyes scanned over everyone, landing on Sam. His nose was bleeding. "Sam, your nose." I said. He picked up his hand, wiping it under his nose and bringing it back, seeing the blood.

"This happens all the time, don't think to much about it." Sam said as he pinched his nose. "Just force it to GOODBYE!" We all nodded and did as told. Everything went quiet. All that was heard were heavy breathing. The wind softly blowing. Everything still. Quiet.

Suddenly the planchette flew off the board in between Brennen and I causing us to jump apart. "Pack up the board. Someone find the planchette." I said, grabbing he board and putting it back in the box, face down. Sam went and grabbed the planchette, hurrying back and handing it to me. I tuned over the planchette and put it in the box then closed it.

"Let's go get Corey." Elton said, everything of his packed up. He handed his camera to Brennen then raced down to Corey, who laid unconscious on the ground. He seemed to be in position if a person had jumped. "Come on Corey. Wake up." Elton said gently slapping his face then checked for a pulse. He sighed in relief which made everyone else less tense.

Suddenly, Corey opened his eyes and gasped for air. Everyone jumped. I grabbed onto someone's arm, an instinct. He turned over, cough and dry heaving. Elton rubbed his back. After a few seconds Elton whispered, "Come on, Corey. We have to go." Corey nodded and shakily stood up.

We all slowly but surely made our way to the car. My thoughts were running wild in my head. Why did the board only react to me? What happened to Corey?

We soon made it to the parking lot. None of us wanted to do the outro so we left it how it was. Everyone's gonna think it was fake, there will be no way to say how real it was. As we pulled up to the house, almost everyone was asleep. Elton, Brennen, and I stayed awake. I still felt sick, so sleep wasn't an option for me.

Once everyone was half awake, we all filed into the house. "Sorry that was such a bad night." Elton apologized to Brennen.

"No, it's fine. I enjoyed it. Let's just hope no demons follow me home." He chuckled. I turned my back towards them and let a small smile come to my lips. I made my way upstairs.

"Hey Colby! Thanks for coming, man." Elton yelled out.

"You're welcome, Uncle." I yelled back. And that was that. I couldn't hear their conversation, muffled words.

I entered my bedroom and sat on my bed. I groaned putting my head in my hands, a major headache pulsed causing this weird sickness to get worse. I decided that I just needed to take something then go to bed. Hopefully, I'd be fine in the morning.

And that's exactly what I did. I took two pills, swallowed dry then went to bed. As I closed my eyes, all I could see was green. Like a dark green with spots of light green.

Slowly I fell asleep. My dreams filled with nothing but darkness and green.
