~Timeskip to when you wake up~

I woke up in an all too familiar bed: the bed in the nurse's office... I'd been here too many times. Most of the time because of Aron and rarely because of little accidents of Dr. Arter.

Hope, the only nurse and the only nice person here, greeted me when she saw that I was awake.

''Goodmorning (Y/N)! Good to see that you are awake again,'' she said. I only nodded.

Hope was the only one here that called me by my first name. She was a little blonde girl and was 15 years old.

She is also an orphan and she's pretty good at being a nurse. Hope was like a little sister to me.

''How long have I been out?'' I asked.

''6 days...'' she said.

''6 DAYS?!''. I couldn't believe it. ''Was it that bad?'' I quietly asked. She carefully nodded.

''Geez...'' I mumbled. Hope chuckled.

''Your arm was a big issue because of the guards who stepped on it, but it's healing fine...'' she mumbled. I could hear she was something hiding from me.

I looked at her. ''What is it?'' I asked. She tried to act confused but I knew her too well for that bullshit.

''You tell me,'' she responded tapping her fingers nervously against the steel frame of the bed. I shook my head.

''What is it, Hope?'' I asked again. She sighed.

''(Y/N), what happened back in the hallways? Who was that?''. I was confused, what had that to do with me?

''I don't know? Why d'you ask?''.

Hope stood up and walked to the corner with the washing machine and grabbed a small piece of paper from the shelf above it. She walked back and gave it to me.

''This was in your pocket (Y/N)... I guess it isn't yours, am I right?'' she asked.

I took the paper from her and inspected it. It was covered with all kinds of characters which I immediately recognized.

My heart began to beat way faster than usual.

That was the secret language my brother and I always used. The same brother who died in the forest fire.

From that moment I wished I'd never asked Hope about it, that she didn't give me the paper. But it was already too late.

My mind began to think about that night again, began thinking about what I did. I started shaking and panicking. I took little breaths which caused me to not see clearly.

Hope grabbed my hand. ''He's alive (Y/N)!'' she whispered and hugged me. ''He's alive... He's alive...''.

I slowly calmed down. And picked the piece of paper back up and began to translate it.

Dear (Y/N),

It has been a while, isn't it? Hope you didn't forget about me... But anyway, we are here to save you from that horrible prison that they call an orphanage.

If you got this letter, you've probably met my partner. Don't worry, he could be a bit... creepy, but you have to trust him. We are going to get you out of there! Be ready, we'll be reunited in a week. Promise.

There is one other thing I want you to know and I hope you understand... I'm... different. Different than I was before the fire. Not in like something has changed inside of me, no. I'm a completely different person. You probably won't believe me but I'm not human anymore. Hope you still see me as your brother.

But anyway, be ready. I'm not gonna tell you the plan because if I do, there might be a chance that it won't work... Just listen to my friend.

Stay strong (Y/N), till we meet again!

Mark

A smile appeared on my lips and stayed there. He was alive! It couldn't be possible, I saw him die but somehow he survived!

Suddenly I heard quiet sobs next to me. Hope was crying. I grabbed her hand and pulled her into a hug.

''Are... are you gonna leave me?'' she asked. I could feel her tears coming through my shirt. ''Never Hope, never!'' I whispered.

''Even if it meant staying here for the rest of my life, getting beaten up or worse. I. Would. NEVER. Leave. You!'' I almost yelled. Tears were welling up in the corners of my eyes.

''You have to stay strong Hope... We will get out of here tomorrow, together. I promise!''

Hope sat up and wiped her tears. ''I love you (Y/N). You are like a big sister to me. I was just... afraid that you would leave me! The only thing I have here is you!'' she said.

I hugged her again. ''I know Hope, I know...''.

This place was a hell. Even more traumatizing for a 15-year-old. Every single day, she has to help patients with horrible wounds, traumas, and other horrible stuff. She had seen too much of this world. It's time that she gets to live a normal life.

''I don't know how my brother is going to do it, but I believe in him.'' I thought at loud.

''Me too, and I don't even know him.'' Hope giggled. I playfully tickled her and pushed her off the bed.

We goofed around for a bit and fell down on the bed to catch our breath.

''So, tell me about him,'' Hope said.

''About who?''

''Your brother! What is he like?'' she asked enthusiastically. I chuckled.

''Well his name is Mark and he is my twin brother. We were very close. We had that kind of a bond that I could tell what he was feeling and he could do the same. I think it's called twin intuition...''

I remained silent and closed my eyes. I tried to remember what he looked like but couldn't complete the picture. It has been so long...

''Hey (Y/N)?'' Hope suddenly asked. I looked at her. ''Yes?''

''You just talked about Mark without freaking out! That's amazing!''.

I thought about it for a moment and smiled. I didn't freak out! I usually get panic attacks when I think about my family or fire.

I stood up and hugged Hope. ''Thanks, little bee...''

''No problem (Y/N). Let's get you ready for tomorrow...'' she said and pulled away.

I didn't know how Mark is going to pull it off but I knew he would get us out of here. The both of us.
