Good God this chapter is longXD I apologize♥ -Sarah

I sat on Finnick’s lap while me, Finnick, Vince, Kiku, and Mags watched the recap of the reaping, to see who we were going to be up against. Huge athletic people from Districts 1 and 2, naturally. The girl from District 3 only had 8 fingers, that I could see. Someone announced that the boy from District 8 was blind in one eye. And the boy from District 12 had a burn that covered half of his face.

After the recap, I told Finnick that I didn’t feel well and wanted to lie down. So he picked me up and took us to a room on the train. “You don’t mind sharing a room with me, do you?” he asked, and I shook my head. He sat me down on the bed and pulled the blankets over me, then he went around to the other side and lied down himself.

“So, what exactly am I supposed to do in the arena?” I asked. “I’m not strong, so there’s no way I’ll be able to fight. Plus, I don’t want to kill anyone. I can’t.”

Finnick kissed my forehead. “Don’t worry about it. All I want you to do is hide. In a tree, a cave. Whatever you can find. And change hiding spots every day.”

“Hide? But that’s not go—“

“Trust me, Annie. Just hide it out. I’ll get you everything you’re going to need to survive.”

“So does that mean I run from the Cornucopia? I don’t try and grab anything?”

He shook his head. “No, nothing at all. Not even anything directly around you. Just make a run for it. I know you’ll be okay.”

I didn’t want to talk about the Games anymore. I didn’t want to be here, I didn’t want to think about the fact that in a couple weeks I’d be thrown into an arena with a bunch of blood thirsty teenagers.

Neither of us fell asleep. We lied awake all night, embracing each other. I cried a couple time and Finnick comforted me. But other than that, neither of us spoke.

The next day we arrived in the Capitol. I was sent immediately to a room deep underneath the ground of the building we would be staying in. There, I met my prep team, who were a bunch of clueless Capitol citizens.  There was Kat, who loved to mess around with my hair and wore hot pink everything.  Flux, the only guy of the three, had an orange Mohawk and green lipstick. And then there was Daisy. She had white hair that fell over her shoulders in curls, gold eye shadow, and orange lipstick. She was very quiet, touched me as little as possible, even avoided looking at me if she could. It was kind of odd, but I thought she must just be shy.

The other two, Kat and Flux, talked nonstop. While they stripped my body of hair, polished my nails, and made sure I was clean, they talked about the most random things, things I had no interest in at all. I smiled and nodded and pretended I cared while they talked about their problems that only Capitol citizens would worry about.

After they were sure they were done, they sent me into another room to wait for my stylist. I hoped he wasn’t terrible like the prep team was. Maybe I could have a decent conversation with him.

When he came in, he looked at me and smiled. He had piercings all up his ears and he wore a lot of eye liner, but other than that, he was pretty normal. For a Capitol citizen, at least. He extended his hand to me and said, “Hello, Annie. I’m your stylist, Ecko.”

“H—hi,” I stammered. I’d suddenly gotten nervous, like the reality of this had finally hit me.

“Don’t be nervous, sweetheart.” Ecko sat on a couch opposite from me. “So you know that the outfits tributes wear for the opening ceremonies always have to do with the district’s industry, right?” I nodded. He laughed a little, I guess because I was obviously so nervous. “Anyway, you’re from District 4. And we’ve been told you’ve got a pretty nice body. So we’re going to show it off, because we can.”
