I Was Made To Love You : Spuffy Edition.

Chapter 5

Obvious tension was lingering between Buffy and Giles, she had skipped out on her weekly training sessions with him and was avoiding him at all costs. Whilst patrolling late one night, Spike decided to bring up the obvious. 

"You cant avoid him forever, pet." Spike was looking over to his side to Buffy, who was looking down at her feet as she walked slowly next to him.

"Not forever.. but for a little while longer..." Her voice was thick of guilt as she recalled her last altercation with Giles at her birthday party. "I just.. don't know what to say to him.. its.. awkward."

"Maybe it doesn't have to be. I'm sure he feels the same way. But hes important in your life Buff, you can't just let that go over... me." Spike went to grab her hand, public affection, even in a dark cemetery wasn't something both of them were used to.

"You are right, aren't you?" Buffy frowned as she leaned her head onto his shoulder. "I'll talk to him in the morning .." Buffy had let out a long sigh as she noticed an abrupt hand shoot up from the ground of a  freshly buried grave. "You want to get him, or me?" she asked Spike.

Buffy was pacing back and forth outside The Magic Shop early the next morning. She knew eventually she would have to enter but dreaded the confrontation. Before she could make her mind up, Giles took the first step and opened the door for her.

"I figured I would just do it for the both of us.." Giles avoided eye contact as he looked down and moved to the side for Buffy to enter.

"I was going.. to.."Buffy felt embarrassed for how long she was standing out there but it soon faded when she realized it was only Giles she was standing in front of.

"You know, when I first thought of the idea of you and Angel.." Giles was thinking of ways he could approach the obvious issue between them.

"That's just it Giles.. He's not Angel.. he never will be and that's why I love him. Yes. Angel and I had an.. epic love story." She stopped to recall briefly in her head the ups and downs of that long lost relationship. "But Spike and Angel... don't even belong in the same sentence."

"I cannot bare to see you hurt again.." Giles finally made eye contact with Buffy. "When Angel left... you were broken Buffy."

"And I glued myself back together.. with super glue."Buffy tried to make light of situation with a joke, even Giles let out a small grin. "Giles.. I was so young than.. naive even. I wont let myself be put through that again."

"I trust you Buffy.. But I'm not going to lie to your face when I say its going to take me lots of time to trust him." Giles wanted to give nothing but honesty for his slayer.

"I can deal with that I suppose.. But I don't want to hide apart of my life that for once I'm excited to live again.. I pretended with Riley to fit in with my friends and there perfect like love lives.. I'm not pretending with Spike, Giles. He makes me feel... complete. " Buffy leaned up against a table full of books. "I know we don't make sense.. but you just have to trust me."

Giles could accept Buffy's plea. "I will trust you, you will always be my slayer, Buff."
