I honestly wasn't surprised at the treatment that I got after my mother scurried out the door with a quick "bye, Pumpkindrop."

The front desk lady pushed a button, and the door across the room slammed open, revealing a heavyset nurse in colorful scrubs. She walked over to me, and just said "Walk."

"Woman of few words, huh?" I asked, not moving an inch.

"Walk!" she said again, pointing towards the open door leading to the rest of the looney bin.

When I didn't move, she laid a meaty hand on my shoulder and pushed me towards the door.

"Fine, woman, jesus!" I said, strolling towards the door like I owned the place.

She led me down hordes of twisted halls, all decked out in pure white wallpaper. It was all so sterile, it disgusted me.

Finally, we reached a door that looked like all the rest, except this one had a black 666 on the door. Typical.

The nurse opened the door, pointing inside. There was no freaking way that I was going into that room. I didn't particularly want a bunch of bad luck.

I planted my feet against the slick white tiles and just stared the lady down.

"I know what you're doing here, kid. I have a few of my own." she said in a scratchy voice.

"Ew!" I replied sassily. "How on earth did you sucker a man into getting with that?" I looked her up and down. "How much did you pay him?"

She scoffed angrily, making a grab for my arm.

"Engage fetal position!" I screamed, dropping down to the ground and wrapping my arms around my legs.

"You'll fit in just fine here, kid," the nurse said, rolling her eyes.

Eventually, after much struggling on my part, the nurse got me locked into my room. It was very bare, just a single twin bed with white sheets and a scratchy blanket along with a white dresser and my very own plastic chair that looked as if it had just been grabbed from a nearby pool.

"Fantastic accommodations you got here!" I yelled through the glass door at the nurse's retreating back. She didn't even flinch.

I aimed a kick at the glass, hoping it would shatter so I could run. I didn't know where I would go, maybe to live with a bunch of monkeys in South America or maybe I could live with the moose population in Canada. But I didn't get the chance to find out, because my foot bounced right off of the glass like it was a solid stone wall.

"Ouchie!" I yelled, bouncing around the tiny room on one foot.

After I was done nursing my poor foot, I gave the room another once over. There were no windows except the one leading towards the hall, and the drawers were empty, save a few pairs of baggy white pants and loose white shirts.

"Well there's one thing left to do here!" I said out loud. If I was going to be locked in the nut house, I might as well act crazy. "Sleep!" I finished my sentence, jumping into the bed and curling up among the scratchy blankets and tough pillow.

Might as well catch a few hours of sleep while I can.
