Don't make eye contact, Quinn. Don't make eye contact, I thought to myself as I ran past my dads who were in the kitchen with Collin.

"Hold on there, young lady," what do you think you're wearing?" Daddy Nick said.

"Dad, I literally only have one tear in my jeans," I muttered.

"A tear that is on your thigh," he countered.

"Go a little easy on the poor thing, Dad, it's just a tear from over use, since that is the only pair of jeans she ever wears," Collin said in his obnoxious voice.

"Oh shut up Collin, you wear the same black shirt everyday," I spat back.

"I'll have you know, I have at least 5 of these shirts, okay?" He said a little more forcefully.

         "Kids, please," Daddy Will said.

"She started it," Collin replied and pointed me.

Daddy Nick put a hand on Collin's shoulder and said," Just remember, she's the one that drives you."

"Yeah so don't be such a di-"

         "Language!" Daddy Will yelled.

"Fine," I said back. "Don't be such a banana."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Watch your language," I heard Sawyer say as he limped up behind me and stole a piece of bacon.

This was my disfunctional family. I was adopted when I was 2 by Daddy Will and Daddy Nick. The twins, Sawyer and Collin, were fostered when I was 5 and they were 3. We finally decided to adopt them when they were 4. Sawyer was diagnosed with bone cancer in his leg when he was 14, and had to get his leg amputated a year later. Growing up with only boys, especially gay ones, was hard as hell. Let's just say, over my teenage years there have been several girls pulled in by Collin's charms, and gays have sex louder than Collin and whatever whore he has with him at the time.

The doctors say that Sawyer has about two months left to live because the cancer spread to his ribs and there's no way to stop it. When I heard the news, I had a severe panic attack and to let all my anger out, I chopped my hair off. Gross I know. Collin is now a sex addict and does it all the time. Also, gross. Daddy Nick works out all the time and when he's not, he cleans the house excessively. Finally, Daddy Will. He got it the worst. He became a workaholic and hardly talks to Collin and me. Only in the morning when we are all somewhat together does he talk to us, and it’s usually a lecture. That's our sad depressing story.

"Collin let's go!" I yelled as I began to walk out to the car.

         "I'm coming, I'm coming!"

"Yeah, well it's not the first time..." I muttered

"Hey I heard that!" He yelled across the car and opened the passenger door.

"Yeah and I heard you and that girl two nights ago."

"Hey, I have to do something to keep my mind off of, Sawyer. Screwing the hell out of girls does that for me."

         "Fair enough."

For a short while, there was silence. Collin and I had never gotten along as well as Sawyer and me.

"Hey, Q," Collin said. "I heard there's a new kid going into your grade."

         "Oh joy," I muttered sarcastically.

"Hey, lighten up a little," he said. "wittle Q can actually make a friend."

"Will you shut up," I yelled as I slapped his arms.

"I'm just saying. He may be really hot or something."

"And you may be really gay or something," I said back.

"The side effects of having gay parents. It can really impact a guy," he said with a blush and a small chuckle.

         "Just saying," I replied.

"Hey, good luck with that new kid today. If he is hot try not to drool too much."

"Excuse me? I don't know what you're talking about."

"Oh please I bet you ten bucks you will drool."

         "You're on."

"Good I need some money for weed"

"Common Collin, don't do that shit. Anyway, I won't loose that bet. Oh by the way, good luck with Finley Owens."

"Oh god don't even mention that freak ," Collin muttered and stepped out of the car.

“Meet me out here after your soccer practice, yeah?"

"Yeah, yeah whatever," he said and slammed the door sauntering off with his weird druggie friends.

I stepped out of my car and, of course, I hit my head against the roof.

         "Oh shit!" I cried out.

"You okay there, darling?" I heard a male's voice .

I looked up and was face to face with the cutest manliest man I have ever laid my eyes on. Oh damn he was good looking. His brown hair shaped his perfectly chiseled face and his hazel green eyes complimented his tan skin.

         "Oh shit..." I muttered again.

"Elliot James Peterson," he said and put his hand out to shake mine.

I looked down at his hand and looking back up at his face. Being the dumb ass I am, I ignored his hand and gawked at his face. Oh damn... I was going to owe Collin ten bucks.

"Usually, now would be the time to politely shake my hand back," he said like he was talking to a little kid.

"Oh- uh- shit- right. Quinn Dailey..." I muttered and managed to awkwardly pull my hand out of my jacket.

"We're going to be smashing friends," he said with an adorable smile.

"Who said we are going to be friends?"

"I did, obviously. Wow, my first friend has already cussed twice in the past minute, and I'm pretty sure she's blind. It's marvelous," he said to himself but loud enough for me to here.

I brushed past him and nudged his shoulder a little. I didn't turn around but I could here him groan in pain.

In that moment I felt like I was quite marvelous.
