I wasn’t able to explain the dull pain in my heart when I told Sawyer about the events that had occurred the day before.
“He was so angry, Sawyer! He looked like he was about to punch the wall!”
“He was probably really upset, Q. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. He just needs to cool down a little, and so do you. Why don’t you and Neil go to a party or something? I heard Daniel Walters is having one later tonight! You should go.”
“Yeah, I think you’re right, but I’m not sure about the whole party thing. Knowing Neil, he would much rather stay in and watch the Notebook.”
“I don’t care what you do, but you better leave because Amber is coming to my room soon.”
“Eww… My younger brother has a better love life then I do,”
I said and wrinkled my nose.
“Make good choices tonight, Quinn,” I heard him say as I exited the room and gave him a quick wave.
I hit a hard chest and almost fell to the ground but the person caught my wrist before I hit the floor.
“Oh excuse me. I’m so sorry,” I guys voice said.
“Liam, you are such a dweeb don’t be gawking all over my boyfriends sister,” I heard Ambers voice say.
I finally decided to look up at the boy. I almost wished I didn’t. He was very good looking. He was taller than me by a couple of inches, and looked very much like his sister. He had longish blonde hair and big blue eyes just like Amber.
“They can’t be siblings,” he said. “This girl is way more attractive than your boyfriend.”
“They’re adopted doofus! And Sawyer is damn sexy,” Amber said and rolled her eyes. She quickly stepped past her older brother to walk into Sawyer’s room.
“Sorry for bumping into you. You literally came out of no where,” he said and gave an adorable lopsided grin.
“Oh no, you’re onto me. How did you know I am a master at witchcraft, and could show up any where I pleased?” I replied in a whisper with a quick wink.
He laughed a little and said, “You’re a clever one and I like clever people. I’ll have to keep my eyes on you.”
“Likewise, Mr. Liam,” I replied. “Hey, don’t go calling my brother ugly. That’s not very nice.” I crossed my arms across my chest and stomped my foot on the ground.
“In my defense, I was trying to give you a compliment!”
“That doesn’t mean you have to go and insult someone else.”
“Okay, I’m sorry! How ‘bout I make it up to you? Lunch with me on Sunday?”
“I’ll check my schedule,” I said and cringed internally thinking about Elliot, already feeling guilty.
“Here’s my number,” Liam said and gave me a piece of paper. “Let me know.”
He sauntered down the hallway leaving me with only a note with his phone number on it.
How childish of him? Who does he think I am? A middle schooler? I thought.
I exited the hospital while texting Neil. In that moment, I officially decided that I was going to forget all about Liam, and Elliot, and I was just going to have a good time with my best friend.
