When I made sure I was safe in my car, I finally read the note Elliot James gave me. It read:
My dearest Nobody,
Let me start off by saying how obnoxious your little friend is. I think his name is Neil. He goes about the class thinking he can just talk to you whenever he wants, and I simply will not stand for it. Unacceptable really. Your weird friend Harper looked at me several times during class so far. I think she’s onto me.
Anyway, I was wondering if you would accompany me to work on our projects together today at 7:30 or so. I was thinking at the local coffee shop. Let me know. My number is on the back of the paper. It would really make my day if you came.
Love,
Elliot James
It was the first time I had ever really gotten a note from someone let alone a handsome boy. I was shocked to be honest. I wanted so badly to go to the coffee shop with him, but I knew I needed to go visit my brother.
I waited for Collin to come to the car for about an hour as I read my book. Finally, he showed up. I shoved the letter Elliot gave me in my book as a bookmark, so Collin wouldn’t see.
“What’s up little bro?” I asked.
“Nothing much, big sis,” he relied.
The rest of the car ride was filled with silence. When we got home, I dropped Collin off and grabbed an apple from the kitchen than ran upstairs to my freakishly clean room. I sat down and grabbed my phone and texted Elliot.
Me: Hey, Elliot! This is Quinn. I have to hang with my younger brother today. I’ll see if I can make things work.
Elliot: Hey Quinn. It’s all right if you can’t today. Maybe tomorrow. ;)
I didn’t respond after that. I thought I would be cool and play hard to get, but I honestly wanted to reply and continue the conversation. Elliot was the first person I had actually had a decent conversation with in a long time. My friends abandoned me after I became more of a blunt and boring person. I blocked everyone out from then on. No one liked me anyway because I didn’t have a good taste in clothes, I didn’t like to talk much, and I was overall just the outcast of our school.
I decided I would finally set out for the hospital that was only a couple blocks down the street from where I lived. I brought a blanket, some chips, magazines, my book, and comic books for Sawyer. They were sort of his guilty pleasure, and I would do just about anything to see a smile on his face.
Hopefully, I would get sometime to go talk to Elliot. In that moment, as I walked out of my house, I could already feel myself slip deep into the worst spell, known as love.
Hey guys! This is just sort of a filler chapter so I’ll posy Chapter 7 really soon! It is one of my favorite chapters!
