The sound of the alarm blaring woke up the tall and short friend with a fright, echoing a groan of annoyance in response. The short brunette sat up, yawning from her sleep, and she got up lazily, trudging to her suitcase for a change of clothes to get ready for the day. The boy was still asleep, surprisingly. Not even the alarm could wake him.
"Emy! Why'd you set an alarm this early in the freaking morning?!" The taller girl demanded through her pillow, shutting off the alarm. The shorter girl, supposedly named Emy, laughed,
"We have a lot of stuff to do today! First we have to unpack our things and maybe give this apartment a little more of a 'home' feel, then we have to go and register for our classes, we're in college after all. Then of course we have to go and buy necessities and supplies for the apartment and then go to dinner," she explained thoroughly.
"You know you didn't have to give out a lecture on it," The taller girl grunted, but resulted in laughing. Emy smiled, walking into the bathroom to change.
She called over her shoulder, "Wake up Andrew for me!" And shut the door.
The taller one looked over to find the boy still asleep and she groaned. She prodded him in the head with her foot twice, and didn't get a response. She then tried throwing her pillow at the boy, this time having the boy shift slightly in his sleep. She sighed in annoyance, but an idea suddenly popped into her mind, causing a mischievous smile to crawl onto her lips. She dug through a bag and found a sharpie marker, and began to draw all over his face.
She tried not to laugh through the drawings she was putting on his forehead, but held it back. Once she was done she smiled at her masterpiece and put away the marker. She cleared her throat and picked up her hardcover book, and within a second she whacked the boy in the back of the head as hard as she could with the book.
The boy yelled and rolled off the worn couch, hitting the floor with a thud.
"Dammit Maddie!" The boy yelled, holding his head with one hand and the other supporting him off the floor. The girl, Maddie, laughed and stood up from the floor.
"That was priceless! You should've seen your face!" She said between the laughs.
"You know, you could've woken me up like a normal person, and not have smacked me with a hardcover book!" He scolded.
Maddie rolled her eyes, "Stop sounding like a father Andrew, it was worth it! I wish I was recording that,"
"Then I could report you for domestic violence," Andrew shot back, still clearly annoyed, Maddie could tell that much by the frown plastered across his face.
Emy walked out of the bathroom dressed in her clothes and started to brush out her hair, but quickly got stopped by Maddie.
"Emy we have to kick Andrew out of this apartment," she stated.
"Uh.. why?" Emy asked in reply.
"Because Andrew just hit me in the head with a book!" She exclaimed, holding back her laughs.
If anyone's jaw could hit the floor, it was Andrew's, "What?! No! You're the one who abused me with it and caused me to hit the concrete floor!" He argued. He was now off the floor by the way.
Maddie turned to him laughing once more, "Oh I'm sorry, did that hurt?" She questioned innocently."Yes it hurt!" He shouted, rubbing his arm. Meanwhile Emy had enough. She rolled her eyes and turned to the two arguing back and forth like children.
"We haven't been here one day and you both are already going at it!" She bellowed at them, causing them both to stop yelling and look at her. She continued, "Do I have to put you two in a corner and treat you both like children?"
"No, but you should do that to Andrew.. He deserves it," Maddie mumbled, adding the last part quietly.
"Hey!" Andrew was about to argue again but Emy threw her hairbrush at him.
"Andrew, cut it out!" She muttered to him. Andrew's arms flailed in the air,"What did I do?!" He demanded.
"Nothing. I just wanted to hit you," she replied. "Now get ready, we have a lot of stuff to do today," she finished and started getting ready again. Maddie was already dressed and walked out of the bathroom, and brushed out her auburn brown hair, while Andrew did the same.
Emy and Maddie sat on the couch, exhaling a breath of air and looked at each other. What an interesting morning so far..
