1.06 Camp Lehigh

When Kat woke up the next morning, she planned on telling him about what happened at the Expo. She walked out into the Bruno living room, seeing her father scrambling around, collecting all the things he needed before they headed to camp.

Kat walked into the kitchen, grabbing a cup of coffee and toast her nonna had made, "What is he mumbling about?" Kat whispered.

"Said he got a call from Phillips. Whatever your doctor friend and Laila are working on is in its final stage before procedure. Didn't think it would happen so quickly." Alessia replied.

Kat nodded before moving closer to her father, "Papa, can I talk to you about something?"

George Bruno stopped in his tracks, his face relaxing at the sight of his daughter, "Not right now, Kitty. I have some things I need to get together before we leave."

"Maybe on the way then?" Kat suggested.

George's shoulders relaxed, "Of course." He kissed her cheek before he began pacing around again.

Emilio Bruno chuckled at his son, moving towards his granddaughter, "He looks about as nervous as he did before he asked your mama to marry him."

"I didn't realize he had as much involvement in Erskine's work as he does." Kat stated, looking over at the older man.

"He helped the doctor get here." Emilio shrugged, "Shouldn't you be getting ready? You're going to be leaving us for a long time."

Kat sighed, the realization of leaving her grandparents for an unknown period of time finally coming to her, "I know. I've already got everything ready to go though." She hugged her grandfather, "I'm gonna miss you, Nonno."

"I'll miss you too, mia piccola strega." He kissed the side of her head.

Alessia smiled at her husband and her granddaughter, deciding to join in on the hug, "La mia fiorellina."

Kat chose not to tell her father about what happened at the Expo. Instead, she told him about Howard's presentation

"Sounds quite impressive." George commented as he pulled into Camp Lehigh.
