1.15 The Death of James Buchanan Barnes

Laila knocked on Bucky's door, "Hey."

Bucky stopped what he was doing and smile at her, "Hey doll. Come on in."

Laila sat at the foot of his bed. Bucky leaned forward and placed a kiss on her forehead. She didn't react.

Puzzled, Bucky sat beside her, wrapping his arms around her waist, pulling her into his lap. He kissed her cheek, but she still didn't react.

"Lai, what's wrong?" He moved her blonde hair out of her face so he could get a good look at her.

Tears began to well up in her eyes, "Come-come back to me in one piece. Please. I-I can't stand the thought of possibly loosing you again."

"Oh, Laila." Bucky hugged her tighter. Laila threw her arms around his neck, crying into his shoulder, "I promise. I'll fight hell to hold you. I will always come back to you. You know that." He took her left hand in his, "You see this right here?" He played with her ring, "This means forever, and I plan to hold up my end of the bargain."

"I-I love you so much, Bucky." Laila cried.

Bucky wiped the tears from her eyes, "I love you too, Lai. More than anything."

Laila wasted no time in throwing herself on top of Bucky so that he was laying flat against his bed. She hovered above him, slowly placing her lips on his. Bucky felt like he was on fire. He placed his hand on her hips, pulling her closer to his body as he melted into the kiss.

Laila wished that they could stay like this forever, but there was a war out there that needed him.

"I like the new uniform." Steve commented as he approached Kat, "It looks good on you."

In addition to upgrading Steve's suit, Howard took the liberty of upgrading Kat's as well. It was thicker and more form fitting than her previous tracksuit look. The red veins on the suit emulated her powers. Plus, her suit kind of matched Steve's.
