Kat groaned as the phone began ringing. She opened her eyes to see it was 6:30, an hour before she had to wake up Brooklyn for school.

She reached over and answered the phone, "Hello."

"Well, hello sleeping beauty." Came Nick Fury's voice on the other end of the line.

"What do you want? It's an hour before I have to be up. This better be good." Kat slowly pulled herself up.

"It is. Call your babysitter. This may take a few days."

"I-I still need details, Fury. Give me details." She rubbed her eyes, still trying to wake herself up.

"Something fell from the sky and landed through the roof of a Blockbuster. Security Officer called it in in the middle of the night. Get suited up. And tell Brooklyn Uncle Nick says hi."

"I will." Kat hung up the phone, hanging her head down. She slowly got up from the bed, changed into her work uniform, and made her way down the hall to her son's room. She knocked on the door, "Danny." Nothing, "Danny." She knocked again.

"I'm coming!" The young man yelled from the other side of the door. She heard a lot of thumping before the door opened to reveal her son, "What? It's 6 in the morning."

"I need you to take your sister to school." She told him.

"Uh, really?" Danny scuffed.

"Yes. I have to be at work. I'll call Sydney and ask her to pick her up and take care of her till you get home. I don't know how long I'm gonna be away, but I know you can manage. Figure out a schedule with her and I promise to be back as soon as I can." Kat attempted to explain in order to calm him down.

Danny may have been 23, but sometimes he acted like his 7 year old sister.

Danny stared at his mother for a few moments before finally giving in, "Oh, alright. Fine."

Kat kissed his cheek, "Thank you." She quickly went downstairs and dialed the Bauers. 

Elias Bauer had always been a good friend to Kat. Ever since she and Howard recruited him to join SHIELD in the 50s, he had always been friendly with the pair and their family. She and Elias's oldest were best friends even if Sydney was ten years younger than Tony.

"Ello." Came a British voice.

"Oh, good morning, Harper. It's Kat. Is Sydney there? I have work and I need a babysitter and..."

"Oh, sure, love. Give me just one moment. Sydney... Mrs. Stark is on the phone."

Harper Bauer was Elias's wife. She was the sweetest soul and been really supportive of Kat and her family when Howard died. While Elias kept her company in the hospital, Harper was more than willing to take care of Brooklyn.
