It's the end of three wonderful days on the coast. The weather has been wonderful. It's been wonderful not feeling the pressure of having to return to anything in particular at all. I'm trying to enjoy inactivity. Rick keeps telling me I'm entitled to enjoy it while it lasts.

We went to see the Delmarva Shorebirds play last night. It was squeeze bottle night, but they only had enough for the first thousand people to show up, and we were not among them. We did get a free Shorebirds T-shirt (XL size) for filling out an application for a credit card.

The game was pretty good, though both teams committed more errors than I'm used to seeing in the majors. In fact, the Shorebirds had a record high number of errors, I think, though that may have been a team record and this is their first year in existence, and it's only June and there's plenty of season left to go.

So now I have minor league players to follow. Juan Fernandez at third. Jason Cemilli. Orlando Somebody-or-Other. We stayed until the end of the 10th. It was cold, but it was a clear night and we had a great view of the full moon rising over the trees.

We return tomorrow. Tomorrow night, the Writer's Bloc meets at Hunan Manor. I'm looking forward to living on a new schedule—write in the morning, do everything else later.

We left Ocean City this morning at around 9:30, I think. It was raining. It was raining when we woke up at 7:30. We drove through the rain until we crossed the Bay Bridge, at which point the weather became bone dry. Cloudy, but no rain.

We got home shortly after 12 noon. We had two messages on the answering machine. Both were from Ellen, who was frantically trying to reach me because she had an appointment with someone interested in renting my old office, but my door was locked. Panic! By the time I was able to call her, of course, she had done the logical thing and rescheduled the appointment.

We vacuumed—well, I vacuumed. Rick scrubbed the toilets later. We also moved one of the bookcases in the den downstairs and moved the 4-drawer file cabinet up in its place. Slowly, the den is turning into a home office. Now to get a second phone line.

We had our Writer's Bloc meeting at Hunan Manor tonight. We each ordered an entrée and shared the food around the table. I've discovered that I can't stand ginger. I about gagged on some ginger chicken. The rest was great—sesame chicken, crispy beef, a combination platter, shredded pork in hot garlic sauce, Szechuan string beans, something else I can't remember, and fried rice to go with it. Dee-licious.

I finished "D is for Deadbeat" over the weekend, and I've started [author and book name omitted, because I'm discreet]. I'm not enthralled, but I haven't read very far, either. She strikes me as someone who relies heavily on stereotypes and does not delve deeply into character. I'm starting to think that I don't particularly like that approach. I also think that she focuses on the "puzzle" aspect of mystery. Mind you, I'm making these judgments after reading all of 16 pages. Maybe I should reserve a few judgments for later.

I delivered Rick's set of office keys to Connie tonight. I hope I can get moved out by the end of the week.
