Nathan and Frankie talked in the guest room before Marcus ran in.
"Guys, look what he's done now." He said before showing them the video on his phone.
"We are here with Jake from West Valley High, who has something quite interesting to say about all this. Jake," the reporter told the audience.
"Well, I have been a witness to all this and I just have to say that I too have chosen to become gay." He told her.
"But your friends have said that it was all faked! It was all a lie," the reporter replied.
"So what if it was, it still caused this chain reaction, didn't it? So many people have tried this and as the end result, they've changed their sexuality. I mean, just look at my friend here, Jeremy. He used to like girls, and now after being with a guy, he's officially switched teams." Jake told her as he placed his hands over Jeremy's shoulders.
"No, I'm still on the Panthers, it's just my Brofriend is one of the cheerleaders." Jeremy replied.
"See? Even if they were faking it, the damage has been done. And now, I've decided to try this out too." Jake told the reporter as others began to listen in.
"So would you confirm being gay is a choice?"
"Jeremy, what are your parents' thoughts on all this now?"
"Are you saying the Brofriend Boys weren't faking it?"
"If you could decide to become gay, can you decide to come back?"
The flood of questions came in from the reporters as the smile on Jake's face grew bigger.
"What is he doing?" Nathan asked them.
"He has to be lying, he would never.." Frankie replied.
"He is," Marcus told them.
"Why would he lie? Why would he do this?" Nathan asked him.
"Because I lied to him. I told him I was just trying it and it wasn't really that great."
"So then why would he act like he's gay now?" Frankie asked.
"For the attention.. ever since this all happened, the school forgot all about their best quarterback. Now he thinks this is the way to get them back to talking about him." Marcus answered.
"But why would he go on TV and tell everyone that you two weren't faking?" Frankie asked.
"I don't know, maybe he heard us talking.. or maybe he knew all along. The one thing I do know is that he is not gay. He's misleading the whole country. We have to do something about this." Marcus told them.
"What can we do? Go back to school with all the reporters and show them we are gay, and he isn't?" Nathan asked.
"That's it! And with that, we've got the answer to proving that you really can't change your sexuality." Marcus answered before grabbing Nathan's hand and rushing outside.
Frankie followed after them before they got into the car to go back to school. After they made it to school, they ran into a familiar face.
"Why hello boys, what are you doing back here?" He asked them.
"Mr. Vargas, we can't talk right now. Are the reporters still here?" Frankie asked him.
"Why no, they left a few minutes ago. But don't worry, I'm sure they'll be back tomorrow to hear all about your little coverup." He told them.
"What do you mean?" Nathan asked.
"The lie you came up with so that you could make things go back to normal and still get what you both want. I know your little secret, and so does the world now. See, your story of this being a coverup to become famous has made you even more famous. Everyone's talking about the two boys from West Valley who turned the world gay." Mr. Vargas told them.
"Why are you so evil to them, they don't deserve this." Frankie stood up to him.
"People as evil as them do deserve this. Once the reporters find out that not only were you lying, but that you intentionally wanted to change the world.. to make it a better place... you'll never hear the end of it from conservatives and Christians everywhere. They're going to rip you two apart." He told them before walking off into his classroom.
"I can't believe that monster. He wouldn't do that, we can't let him." Frankie told them.
"There's nothing we can do, Frankie. We already lied once. Now we could only hope to regain people's trust in us this time." Nathan told her.
"I think it's time to go back home, Nath." Marcus told him as he looked down.
"Let's go," Nathan replied.
"No, back to your home." Marcus said firmly.
"What do you mean? I can't go back, they won't let me."
"Yes you can, tell them the truth."
"What truth? They already know."
"It was all just for fun, to try it out. That's what we have to go with. It's the only way out of this mess."
"No, the only way out is the truth and that's not the truth. Even if it was just for fun, I wouldn't start dating girls, I never did." Nathan told him.
"Well I did, and you could too."
"No, Marcus. You can't just act like none of this happened to make things go back to the way they were."
"Why not? Why can't I try? I can't live with myself knowing I caused all this. I can't deal with it anymore. I should've never talked to you that day." Marcus told him before walking back to his car.
"Marcus, wait." Nathan said before falling to his knees.
Frankie got on her knees and hugged him as she closed her eyes.
"I have no one." He told her.
"That's not true. You have me, Nathan. I'm always here, you know I will be." Frankie said as she comforted him.
"Where will I sleep"
"You can sleep at my house, I'll tell my parents. I have a feeling they won't mind you sleeping over." She told him.
They stayed on the floor as Frankie noticed Mr. Vargas through the classroom window.
"Holy shit." She said. The next morning, Nathan ran into Marcus in the locker room. He walked passed him avoiding eye contact.
"What happened with you two? That time of the month again?" One guy asked before the others laughed.
"See that's just one of the benefits of dating a non-female. They have their days, but it ain't every month." Another guy replied before the rest laughed.
"Seriously though, what happened, Marc? Everyone knows you were kidding about the viral stuff." Jeremy told Marcus as he saw Jake walk in.
"What is wrong with you" he asked him.
"I'm gay now, that's what." Jake answered.
"Why are you doing this, I know you wouldn't try shit."
"Whoa, Marc, I'm just doing what you did. We're all just having a little fun. Boys just wanna have fun too, you know." Jake told him with a devilish smile.
"No, you just want people to talk about you. This won't do that, the only thing it does is make you just like everyone else; going along with the trend." Marcus told him.
"You're right, I did want the attention, the love, and all the fame you got. But I will never get it now, will I. You will always be the guy who changed the world.. in terms of the fate of humanity, not so much for the better." Jake replied.
Marcus stared at him with great anger as he tried to figure out why he was doing this. He turned around before walking to the blacktop.Hours passed as Marcus and Nathan have yet to say a word to each other. By the time school had ended, Marcus had been waiting at the front for the reporters when Nathan and Frankie spotted him.
"Here we are with Marcus of West Valley High, who believes to have a very big story, even bigger than yesterday's." A reporter told the camera.
"That's what she said.. that last part... and not to me, to her boyfriend. Still not gay." Frankie told Nathan as he stared at her.
"Well, I had been doing some investigating if you will.. and I've discovered something very odd about someone you spoke with yesterday." Marcus told her.
"He's going to do it!" Frankie said with great joy.
"You told him?" Nathan asked before she nodded with a big smile.
"You remember Jake from yesterday, right? Well at first I couldn't believe that he would even try being with a guy... until I saw him getting pretty close to one of the teachers here." Marcus told them before a wave of gasps began.
