Chapter Five

Gage

We watched as Lux exited the building. She was much calmer, but still angry. A fight on her second day of school? Now that was bold, Then again, karma had been meaning to pay Kacia a visit. I couldn't blame Lux, she did what everyone who Kacia messed with wanted to do, but never did.
I'm a real asshole, but she was demon spawn. If only being an Elite was as exclusive as the old days; now the unfit and undeserving mingle amongst us like they ever belonged. They don't even know what to do with all they have. A shame really, but in the name of progression right?

We watched her cruise off before walking to our 5th hour classes. Xavion broke our silence and states of shock.

"Damn... damn," he shook his head, "On everything I love, I swear I ain't seen that shit coming. Who knew that little thing could pack such a punch. I mean, I know we saw she could stand her ground, but, she straight snapped in there." He said astonished. We nodded in agreement.

"Y'all see how calm she was before she swung? Like... like she was letting her anger build... That was wild. Calculated." Kavan said. Mace ran her fingers though her hair, making sure that it was still styled up and in place.

"I just hope she's okay." She mumbled and crossed her arms as we stopped in front her classroom. My sister hugged Kavan and Xiv before hugging me, her eyes meeting mine as she turned to leave. Xiv and Kavan had a technology and engineering class together so we said our goodbyes as they left in the opposite direction.

I opened the door to the class I should have been in 20 minutes prior and before I could even step a foot in, Mr. Hendrix, the piece of shit teacher I'd gladly stomp into the ground, was on my case.
"Ah Mr. Héroux, nice of you to finally join us." Shutup Hendrix.
"I was in the office." I said coolly as I strolled to my seat, isolated in the back of the room.
"That's nothing out of the ordinary for you now is it?" He eyeballed me as if he'd won some unspoken competition between us. He always acted like there was some game that we were engaged in, and quite frankly, if he insisted on playing with me, I was always down to have some fun. I hated his class anyways. Come to think of it, if I pissed him off enough, I could get him to kick me out like always. Maybe, I could even get detention, the benefit being Lux. I bet she'd love that. It was worth it now.

Let the games begin.

"Of course not Mr. Hendrix, as ordinary as it is for you to go home to your mother every night. I'm sorry and the last time you got laid was?" The class erupted with laughter. "Or... are you what... a 40 year old virgin? In the 23rd century? Whores wouldn't even want to give you head. A shame." Checkmate.
"GET OUT OF MY CLASS NOW HÉROUX!" he shouted.
"It would be my pleasure. I can't stand your shit class anyways. Keep fucking with me, you forget this is just school, and not the real world, you lowest life Commoner. Before you know it you'll be condemned and exiled to the Septic Tank." I grabbed my stuff and walked out of the room as fast as I had gotten in. Kicked out of his class in less than 5 minutes. That was a new record.

I walked into the chancellor's office and took my usual seat. He swiveled around in his chair after ending a hologram call with Mr. Hendrix.
"Gage." He said, displeased.
"John." I smiled at him.
"What are you doing son? We're barely halfway through first semester. Can't you save your shenanigans for the end of the year when you're about to leave?"
"Negative. I need to leave this school with memories and stories to remember me by." John, (I mean "Mr. Chancellor Sir") sighed and rubbed his hand on his balding spot. "And to think I was going to commend you for how you carried yourself today. So responsible for stopping the fight."
"Well you still can John, I'm never one to bypass flattery."
"Gage, stop calling me John, that's out of place and-"
"Sir, yes Mr. Chancellor, Sir."
"Gage." He said more sternly this time. "Stop testing me. I'm not here to play games." I folded my arms over my chest and silenced. This wasn't worth my energy. "For goodness sake... what am I going to do with you?" He shook his head. "You know the girl that got into the fight? You're friends with her,  right?"
"Who? Kacia?!" I looked at him with disgust. "Oh God, please, no. Don't insult me."
"No, not Kacia, Gage... who in their right mind would befriend that girl?" he mumbled the last part and I chuckled. "You didn't hear that."
"Sure didn't." I played along.
"I meant the new girl, with the blue hair. You seemed to be friends with her." I shrugged.
"Friends would be a stretch. She just got here, my sister is cool with her so... eh, I guess somewhat of an acquaintance. Why?"
"You two can become best buddies. I'm giving you detention with her all next week. Don't miss it you hear me? You're cleared for the rest of this week but if I hear any other problems you're getting more time."
"Not like I didn't see that one coming. That man hates me John, he's always testing me and I'm not one to be toyed with." I rolled my eyes.
"I understand Gage and I'll talk to him. But you can't just not show him any type of respect. Your definitely cannot threaten him either. That's a charge. A lawsuit even. He's your teacher."
"I didn't threaten him, I warned him. Respect is earned, never given. I have no issue with people beneath me, believe it or not, but he doesn't respect me in the first place, so why should I him? Just because he's an adult doesn't mean he can say whatever the hell he wants to me, he's not even an elite for starters. As a matter of fact, he's lowest of the Commoners and lucky to even work here. Listen John, when we leave this building his jurisdiction ends, and he has no more authority over me. We are on leveled playing fields. Not even leveled because I have the upper hand. He's my teacher in school, but outside these walls, I could buy him. I could hire and fire him and a whole lot more. He's forgotten who, and whose I am. My last name isn't Héroux for nothing." I leaned back in the chair. He sighed and gulped. John understood exactly what I meant.
