Chapter Six
The rest of the week went by like a drag. Everyday felt like the same as the day before (minus the fight). If this was the monotony i was going to be subjected to I was sure going to die from this move. Aurora Alizé took me exploring to a new part of town every day after school. Most times it was scenic nature routes of places that looked like they had been painted. And then she would bring me home hovering near the tallest towers in the city. I would look around me, taking in all the technology; airboarders zooming past the traffic, robotic holograms handing out samples straight from the billboard, neon lights and colors flashing brighter as the sun would begin to set, if we stayed out late enough to see it. Alizé seemed to be just what I needed to cope with being here.
As the week went on, during the school day I spent more time with Marcellia, the two of us becoming inseparable by the minute. The boys seemed to be taking a liking to me as well. Even Gage, through his random mood wings. One minute he was charming and charismatic and next he was off the walls again. Regardless, he was always staring as if he was studying me; trying to crack some code. I on the other hand I was just trying not to let him get under my skin. Overall, the more time I spent with them and adjusted, the more I was starting to feel like one of them.
Along with that, other people were talking to me more, and about me just as much. Mainly about how I handed Kacia's butt to her. She wasn't in school because of her suspension so that was a plus; I guess I could say my first week here was not all bad. At least not as bad as it was looking like it was going to be.
I had gone to the theatre a couple of times this week in efforts to escape my house. I would holo-call Annora or Edsel and we would have mini jam sessions or I'd watch them practice together. They would stop when they'd see sadness wash over my face and reassure me that things were going to be fine. I would nod, not really wanting to talk about it, and tell them how much I missed them before hanging up and finally going back to my empty house with my dog waiting at the front door for me.
Today was Friday and week one had officially ended thank the living God. Or at least after this school day, would have officially ended.
After seeing just how intensely sad I was, Annora made sure that she would spend the weekend with me. I had attempted to negotiate her coming two weeks in a row, but she and Edsel have the next weekend planned together somewhere in the snow. I reeled my neediness in and stopped pushing. Alone was something I was going to have to become comfortable with.***
It was the first break in the day and I hadn't seen Gage all morning. It wasn't that I wanted to see him, rather that it had just become routine and I had already seen his sister. Mace said earlier that he Xavion and Kavan, whom I also hadn't seen yet, were handling something important and would be late. Just how late though she never specified.
I stepped into the glass helipad and swiped my card. It shot up to the eighth floor. I opened my vessel and began to put away my belongings, just as a tattooed arm slithered around my waste and spun me around, pulling me into their body."What the fu- Gage?!" I slapped his arm and pushed him out of my way. He chuckled and ran his hands through his hair. Today he wore black tailored jeans with black boots. His opaque black shirt had the sleeves torn off, revealing a full, detailed sleeve on one arm and a fire trail tattoo running down his ribs. My curiosity sparked.
I must have been staring at him because the next thing he said snapped me out of my daydream.
"Babe, you're burning a hole in me again, well the way you were just checking me out, I would say, multiple holes. You're getting very comfortable with putting your hands on me." He smirked and stepped closer to me, leaning an arm on the vessel next to Mace's.
