*Haven POV*
I hopped in my families green Toyota truck. In what felt like seconds, I was pulling into the icehouse parking lot.
Jason stood outside, hands shoved in his pockets. He wore a black hoodie and carried two pairs of skates by their laces.
"Size ten?" He grinned as I joined him on the sidewalk. I smirked. "What, did you follow me around all day or somethin'?"
"Lucky guess."
He extended an arm to me as I gladly took it, smiling as I did so.
He lead me inside and sat me down on a bench. I laced up my skates hurrily, wanting to get on the ice as soon as possible.
Jason laughed. "Someone's excited." My cheeks turned pink. I didn't think it was that obvious. "I guess I just haven't skated in a while, but I love it."
He took me by the hand as we hobbled towards the rink's entrance. "Wait!" I suddenly said, disallowing Jason to move any further. "I'm waiting on friends."
"Friends?" He slightly furrowed his brow. "Haven, this is a date. You really brought friends?"
"Um... Yeah? Come on Jase! The icehouse is an open hangout, we can go off on our own!" I incouraged.
"Fine. But don't call me Jase again," he smirked.
"Okayyy," I huffed. Soon, Jack and Amanda had arrived and the four of us got on the ice.
I was right. Five minutes of small talk later, Jack had gone off and Amanda had followed.
Jason and I slowly circled the rink, chatting as we went. We didn't know that much about each other, so it was nice to do this.
*Jack's POV*
As much as I liked Amanda, things weren't going so good tonight.
When Amanda had texted me this morning, offering to go to the icehouse with her friends, I casually agreed, like anyone would do.
Things were uneasy between us after she told me about her... boyfriend. I had offered to pick her up and drive her to the icehouse, but I regretted it immediately.
The drive was silent. Not a word was spoken. I thought maybe we could work things out, but I realized, as the night went on, that it wasn't the case.
I was relieved when we pulled into the parking lot and went inside. The night was basically a blur of just gliding around the ice. Not very fun, for me at least.
At one point, later in the evening, Amanda skidded to a halt in my path. "Ama-"
"Jack," she said. "At some point, we're gonna have to make up."
"I know," I stated, staring at my skates. "I just... I love spending time with you. I love BEING with you. I know... It's stupid."
"I feel the same way, and I guess it's kinda dumb, cause I only just met you." She tucked some hair behind her ear and gave me a crooked smile.
I stuck out my hand. "So Amanda Powell, friends?"
She gave me her hand. "Friends." As we shook hands, I gently pushed her down on the ice and onto her butt.
"Betcha five dollars you can't catch me!" I taunted. She got to her skates in a flash.
"It's on, Jack Johnson."
A few minutes later, she had a new, crisp dollar bill in her pocket.
*Haven's POV*
It was probably around 8:00 when the four of us gathered at the pizza place and ordered some food. I had noticed a strange silence between Jack and Amanda at first, but they seemed better now.
As I bit into a slice of pepperoni pizza, Jason stared at me. I turned to him and giggled, staring back.
"God Haven. You're gorgeous."
"Not too shabby yourself, Hoodie Boy."
He grabbed my hand and began to play with my fingers.
And then, I saw him. The boy with the gorgeous, one of a kind blue eyes, his arm linked with a familiar brunette. He strode up to our table and smirked cruelly.
"Oh hey! I was just on a date with my girlfriend Lauran! Funny to see you here!"
