Listening to her mother, Sarah went into her room, got ready and hit the gym to relieve some of the stress that got her head crumpled.
She was running on the treadmill with her headphones on when a song came and made all her efforts go in the nearest trashcan. It reminded her of what she had and took for granted all these years but now she lost. Eyad was always one call away literally till he got tired, till he was too hurt to carry the burden of loving her secretly anymore.
Sarah sighed loudly and stopped the machine, taking in and out slightly exhausted breathes. She wiped her forehead with a towel and hold her water bottle going to the showers. She thought she would put off some steam and relax but it wasn't that successful.
That night, Sarah went to her bed with a thought that 'enough is enough' how long would she live in the past and kill her soul with sorrow , yes Eyad was a great part in her life but he was gone now, he chose to forget her and their friendship and she must move on. She must focus on her future, the future she was building with Omar , her fiancé. She had to stop comparing Omar with Eyad, no two individual are the same , so why was she wishing for Omar to act like Eyad. She had to accept Omar as he was, he was a busy man, didn't intend to ignore her on purpose. She must not forget his effort to cheer her up, she must not forget him taking her to play his new melodies and her being the first to hear them. Omar loved her and she loved him and they were getting married. Nothing would change that fact and she would put all her power to make their relationship bloom all the time.
With those determined thoughts , she gave herself to a peaceful sleep and new motive for the following days.
The next morning, Sarah woke up and got ready with her usual hopeful self. She even paid few more minutes to choose an outfit and put some makeup on to complete her look.
Once she opened her bedroom door , Joey came in wiggling his tail as usual, she crouched down to his level and scratched his head , back and tail.
"Good morning, Joey, I know I ignored you those past days but I promise, we'll take a walk when I come back." She told him then with a kiss, she left to greet her mother.
"I see going to the gym yesterday was effective" Gehan said with a smile.
"Maybe your speech did the magic, Gege" she winked making her mother laugh as Sarah called her mother with her nickname only when she was teasing her or joking. When her mother found her daughter back to her usual self , she was contented and satisfied, what could a mother ask for more than her children's happiness and peace.
Sarah entered her work room singing softly to herself , she found unusual noise in the place but ignored it. May be they are talking about some new gossip as usual. She thought and went to prepare her schedule for the day. She had two classes with one hour and half gap between them. What a light schedule for a good day. She thought smiling to herself.
She went to bring a cup of coffee, but the curiosity to know what her colleagues were talking about ate her insides, so she walked casually to them to hear what they were talking about , but before she could ask she knew the answer herself.
Eyad came strolling inside the room with his cup of espresso and a smile complementing his face, as if nothing was wrong in the whole world, as if he didn't know that he would surely meet his long missed friend.
Sarah stood stunned in her place, she even blinked a couple of times to make sure this wasn't a dream. He was back. After more than six months, he came back. He came back and never thought to tell her or contact her. He just came from his long vacation and returned to his work without giving her any thought or place in his mind.
Eyad and Sarah's eyes clashed and both of them stood in their place without any movement, just frozen in the moment.
It had been so many days and night since he looked at her , he deprived himself from stalking her, or looking at her pictures, but now, it felt as if they hadn't been away from each other. He noticed her being a little thinner but other than this she was as perfect as ever.
The noise arising from their colleagues broke their moment and it was as if a bucket of iced water fall on them and they became aware of their surrounding. He sent her a small smile as a greeting but she never returned it back.
Eyad shook his head and drew a smile on his face. He was bombarded with questions about the band and their success. Once Sarah found a crowd around him she slipped from the room silently. It wasn't hard though as everybody was busy with Eyad to notice anything else.
Sarah stood in front of the coffee machine lost in her thoughts when she felt a presence behind her so she turned on her heels and found Omar smiling. She didn't know why she felt a bit disappointed that it was Omar, she was sad few days ago that he was busy and couldn't meet him, so why when he was here she didn't feel excited. Did I expect Eyad to come after me? Is that why I'm disappointed? She wondered in her mind but quickly erased the thought and smiled to Omar.
"How are you? It's been a week since we met." Sarah said turning again to hold her cup of coffee.
"Yeah, it was a hectic week if you ask me but finally I'm done." He grinned. "We can have a dinner date tonight, if you are free." He asked excited. Sarah felt guilty that she wasn't as excited as him but masked her face with a smile.
"Yeah, why not?" She agreed, It is time for them to spend some quality time together and forget everything that drove them apart. She convinced herself. Then...
"Omar" she called without moving her eyes from her cup and he looked at her " do you know Eyad..."
"...Comes back" Eyad completed her sentence entering where the couple were standing with a blank face.
