"Kayden! Come push me on the swing! I want to go high, all the way up to the sky!"
"Okay, but then you have to push me up to the sky!"
We had been best friends all our lives. Being neighbors, made us unrepeatable. We had sleep overs almost every night, for many years. We spent every day together. Being little we didn't care what we did, as long as we were together.
We went through school being best friends, we went home, and were together. We spent everyday together for 13 years. But then, the one day that I spent the first two years trying to forget, happened. The day I had to leave my very best friend behind.
That was the day my dad told us we had to move because he was offered a better job. We had to move to a different state, and in that state, Kayden wasn't gonna be there. I had to say goodbye to Kayden and everything I've ever known.
Who knew that after five years, we would be back in this small town that I grew up in because my parents wanted to come back home. Who knew that over five years, two people could change so much. So much, that they wouldn't even be able to recognize each other.
*Beep beep*
After five years of being gone from this place, on my first day back I am awoken by an obnoxious beeping. The sound of my alarm, I will forever hate that sound. That was the sound that separated me from my one true love; my bed.
After about five minutes of just laying in bed staring up at the ceiling, I got up and jumped in the shower. Today was my first day of school back in the town I thought I would firstly never leave, and then secondly never come back to.
When you're suddenly moving out of the house you spent all your life in, you don't really think you'll be coming back. But I guess my family is different. We only came back because my parents regretted moving and missed our home town. So here we are, back in the house I grew up in, and the town I left everything behind in.
I got out of the shower, and put my towel around me to go walk to my closet and find an outfit for today. It was spring time, so I didn't need anything too heavy and warm, but something that covered me up enough.
After spending about 10 minutes trying to figure out what I'm going to wear, I decide on a pair of light leggings, a tank top, with a light cardigan, paired with sandals. For my hair I brushed it out and left it to air dry into my natural straight/wavey hair. Then I put on my everyday makeup, which didn't consist of much, grabbed my backpack, along with everything else I would need, and went down stairs to eat breakfast.
Once I got down stairs, my mom was making breakfast, and my dad was sitting at the table drinking his coffee and reading the paper.
"Good morning Elle, how was your first night back?" Dad asked not really paying any attention to me, but still reading his paper.
"It was good. Good to be back." I answered, while a slight smile creeped its way onto my face thinking about how it was here before we left five years ago.
Once I ate my breakfast, I said goodbye to my parents and made my way to my car to go to school. 'Hopefully today goes good, and it's like what it used to be' I thought to myself getting into the car and starting my engine before pulling out of my drive way and making my way down the all too familiar road to school.
