Anna
"C'mon, Anna! Let's go pick out a tree!" Lissa tugged on my arm as we arrived at the tree farm.
I didn't share the same enthusiasm as my future sister-in-law. "Liss, slow down! The trees aren't going anywhere!"
Lissa and I were put in charge of choosing the tree for the Garrison. Normally, I would be all for this idea; but the thought of doing anything without Chrom only made me depressed.
We walked passed tree by tree, none of them peaking our interests. Gods... I wish Chrom was here! He loves doing this kind of stuff!
"What about this one?" Lissa asked me.
I barely acknowledged her and kept walking. "Too big."
This went on for quite a while.
"This one?"
"Too tall."
"How about this one?"
"Too small."
"This?!"
"Too piney."
"Ok, what about this one?"
"Too skinny."
Lissa grabbed my arm. "Now I know you're not listening to me!" she complained.
I shook my head and tried to look surprised. "What?! Of course, I am!" I crossed my arms.
"No you're not," she sighed. "I know this because I just pointed at a rock."
I looked down. "Oh...I guess you were..."
Lissa grabbed my hands and made me face her. "You've been so spacy ever since the holidays started! What's wrong with you?! You're normally really excited about this!"
I sighed and kicked at the snow. "It's hard to enjoy the holidays when your fiancé isn't here to spend it with you..."
"Oh, that's what this is about!" Lissa smiled at me. "You know, there are a lot of people who are much better company than my stupid brother! Like me!"
I let out a small chuckle. "I appreciate the thought, Lissa, but I love your brother with all of my heart and just being away from him is torture."
"Just forget about him for a second, will ya!" she groaned. "I miss him too, but I'm trying to make the best of the holidays with my friends and loved ones! You can't let his absence get you down!"
I studied the snow and tried to hide my blush. "But-"
"No buts!" She tugged on my arm. She does this way too much... "You're going to have a great Nagamas! With or without Chrom! Starting with the tree!"
"L-Lissa! Wait!"
...
As it turned out, I had a better time looking for a tree with Lissa than I thought I would. She laughed and made jokes the whole time, and that really helped my mood. Soon, we had a tree picked out, and we made our order to have it sent to the castle. After that, we headed to the shopping district for lunch.
"Ohhh! I haven't had this in forever!" Lissa exclaimed as she dug into her pie.
"Lissa! Manners!" I giggled. "Plus: why are you eating an apple pie for lunch?"
Lissa looked up at me, an apple dangling from her mouth. "Why wouldn't I eat a pie for lunch?"
"...Fair point," I said as I took a bite of my stew.
"It's not as good as your pies, though." She winked. "Gods, one of the main reasons I wanted Chrom to marry you is because you're such a good cook! We can't have someone with your skills whisked away by someone else!"
I rolled my eyes. "It's good to know that I'm loved, Liss."
"Oh, I had other reasons, too!" She smiled.
"And those reasons are?"
She winked again. "That's a secret!"
I sighed. "Fine..." We were silent for a few moments. "Hey, thanks for taking me out, Liss. I feel a lot better."
Lissa smiled. "I'm so glad. You deserve to be happy. Don't let your fun be hindered by Chrom's absence."
"I...I'll try."
