Chapter 5: Life Goes On

*1 MONTH LATER*

Spencer's POV:

Being stuck at this motel is a living hell.  I have to sleep with Wren every night, and if I'm lucky, he won't rape me.  Every night, he takes it farther with me, and every night, I cry myself to sleep afterwards.  I miss Toby so much.  Wait, I don't just miss Toby, I need Toby.  I can't imagine what he's going through to try and find me.  I even miss my family.  Melissa, Mom, and Dad, they're probably all so worried.  I wish I could talk to them at least once, since Wren has made it clear to me that I'm not going anywhere for a loooonnngg time.  

It's morning in my motel room, or prison, as I call it.  Wren has been gone for a while, so I decide to make the most of it and snoop around.  As usual, the door is locked, along with the desk drawers and cabinets.  I feel like a child living in a child-proof world.  I'm helpless, and there's nothing I can do that will change that.

Toby's POV:

It's been a month since Wren took Spencer.  I know he took her, I just wish I had put all the pieces together sooner.  The smirk, the phone call, the disappearing, it was all leading up to Spencer's kidnapping, and I somehow can't shake the feeling that I couldv'e prevented it.

I haven't slept since Spencer disappeared, and neither has Melissa.  I suspect she misses Wren more that Spencer, and that's why she hasn't been sleeping.  As for Mr. and Mrs. Hastings, they have been getting a great night's sleep every night, and it makes me sick.  They keep telling me "Life has to go on, Toby, and the cops are doing everything in their power to try to bring her back."

And my answer for them is, "Life doesn't go on until Spencer comes home."
