Finding a Star Wars fic with a strong, unique plot is a difficult task and, trust me, writing one can be even harder. It's easy just to imitate already established storylines and characters, but in the end having a distinct, interesting storyline makes your book more appealing and interesting to write.

So here are a few common clichés that I've noticed from this website, and some tips to fix them.

If you're a fan of jedi love interest fics (ie. obi-wan, anakin etc), then you've more than likely read a book where the oc is a jedi padawan (without a master?) who somehow gets assigned to protect Padmè along with Obi-Wan and Anakin and ends up falling in love with [insert li]. Having a force-sensitive oc is very fun and honestly, it's half the joy of writing for star wars but there are certain plot holes that authors tend to create with these kinds of plots which can detract from their authenticity within the universe.

Included within these tropes are the following;

✧˖°࿐ Realistically, if a youngling is not selected to be a padawan or failed their trials, they were often reassigned to the Jedi Service Corps, where they were sorted into four branches (agriculture, medial, educational or exploration). There, they could train in the force and their selected art, but would never be granted the rank of Jedi Knight or Master. Of course, rules can be bent, but you'd have to provide a pretty damn convincing explanation if you still wanted to go down the master-less padawan route whilst still being within the Order.

✧˖°࿐ I always see jedi oc's where the character is sassy, ambitious and somehow brilliant with the force. The issue with this is that any Jedi that showed characteristics of the dark side (cunning, ambition, deception, dissonance etc.) would have been very closely watched by the Council and would likely have been kicked out if they showed signs of turning. So just moderate your character's traits to make sure they're realistic for their role.
