Chapter 5: The Trick for the Twins

Harry and Hermione finally returned along with Professor McGonagall. Hermione and Harry walked back to their seats and Professor McGonagall walked back over to the tables at the front. I didn't move or show any expression. I still felt empty like there was a part of me missing. I hated that feeling. I didn't know what to do anymore; it felt like everything was gone. All my cheerful memories were gone. It's not like I had much anyways.

Once Dumbledore had stopped talking, the feast began and everyone was digging into the food. Everyone but me, that is. They were all eating their food like they haven't eaten anything since Christmas. I didn't even touch my food, not even looking at it. When it was time to go to our common rooms, I felt a hand grasp onto my shoulder. I looked up to see Ron in front of me.

"Aquila, come with us!" Ron said with a bright grin stretched across his face.

"Where? What are we doing?" I said without a hint of curiosity or interest. I stood up, though, and walked over with them to congratulate Hagrid on being a teacher. That was the only thing that Ron told me what they were doing.

"Congratulations, Hagrid!" Hermione squealed.

"All down ter you four," Hagrid said as he whipped a napkin on his face that seemed to be tears. "Can' believe it. . . great man, Dumbledore. . . Came straight down to me hut after Professor Kettleburn said he'd had enough. . . . It's what I always wanted."

"You deserved it," I said as I patted his arm in comfort, as it was the only thing I could do. My face still lay straight and he looked at me confused for a moment.

"You alrigh' there, 'quila? Yeh seem down." Hagrid asked, but I didn't know what to say.

"Wait, did she even get any chocolate? Have you eaten? You look quite famished, Aquila. You still seem pale in the face, as well." Hermione said.

"What is this about?" Professor McGonagall asked as she made her way over to us.

"The dementor did the same to her, Professor McGonagall, but for some reason it seemed worser than Harry's." Hermione said.

"What happened? What did she do?" The professor asked again.

"She was curled up into a ball and was squeezing herself and was crying while muttering things. Then the next thing you know, she was having seizures and spasm attacks." Ron answered.

"Did she get any chocolate? Did she eat anything?" Professor McGonagall asked as she looked over at me with concern and worry.

"Now that I think about it, Professor Lupin said he didn't have any more chocolate left. I'm not sure about the other. Did you eat anything?" Hermione asked. I shook my head no. "Aquila, why didn't you eat anything?! It'll worsen!"

"I'm sorry," I muttered as I felt tears well up in my eyes. I didn't know what else to say to her. I didn't know how to feel. It was all numb. I didn't know what else to do. I'm such an idiot. . . .

"It's not your fault, Aquila. Come on, let's go get you some chocolate. You must be very weak right now. Do you need to stay a night in the hospital wing?" Professor McGonagall said as she looked at me with concern and pity.

"I just think some chocolate will do fine, Professor. And please, Professor, don't pity on me. I don't need your pity, that just isn't right." I said with a frown placed on my lips.

"Let's get you some chocolate, then. You three, off to bed, now." Professor McGonagall shooed the others away and she helped me to some chocolate that was on the teacher's table. She gave me a large piece of chocolate from the table and handed it to me. I gradually ate the piece of chocolate and it made me feel a little bit better. It helped, too. It made me feel warmth again and some happiness that was forgotten inside of me.
