Chapter One: Why Don't You Love Me?

Lily's Pov

"Mama! Papa!" I yelled. I pulled Birdy into my arms as she shook uncontrollably. They ran into the room and Papa pushed her off of me. She landed on the floor and started crying.

"You called us for her!?" Papa yelled. Mama picked me up roughly and started walking towards the door. "What are you doing? We have to help her!" I shouted back in between tears. "Burden means nothing to us, we only love you remember?" Mama said, forcefully kissing my face as I tried to get out of her grip.

"NO!" She gripped me tightly in her arms and kept walking to the door. "You're a waste of our bloody time child!" Papa yelled. I saw a glimpse of him kicking my sister onto the floor.

"LEAVE HER ALONE!" I kicked Mama and ran to my sisters side. I held her hands and kissed them. She was gasping and shaking but held them back. "Please you need to take her to a hospital! Please" I begged my parents who were just watching emotionlessly.

Mama whispered something to Papa and he approached us. "If you won't leave her, you're not our daughter" he said calmly. I looked down at my sister and back to my parents. "Please..." I whispered.

Dada shook his head and smiled. "Never." He kicked me in the stomach and walked back to Mama. She was crying and he hugged her. They walked out of the room and I could hear the door lock.

"No! Please, let us out!" I ran to the door and banged on it. "Go away Lily... I'm done with you" Mama said through the door. I hit it one more time and crouched down by Birdy. "Don't worry I'm gonna get us out of here. Somehow" I reassured her. She smiled weakly at me and fainted. I started crying and hugged her. "Just be okay please" I whispered into her shoulder.

I looked up and saw the window was slightly open. It was snowing outside and the glass was covered with ice but it was a chance. I jumped up and slid my fingers under it. I pushed up with all my strength and smiled when it slid open. "LILY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" Mama shouted through the door. I gasped in fear and ran over to Birdy. I pulled her up and hobbled over to the window.

"HURRY UP AND UNLOCK THE DOOR" I heard Mama yell. I pushed Birdys legs over the window sill and dropped her as gently as I could onto the snow. The bedroom door flung open and Mama and Papa ran in. I jumped onto the window sill but Papa pulled me back by my hair. I fell onto the wooden floor and felt pain radiate through my body.

I ignored it and thrusted my arms around until I punched him in the eye. He let go of me and grabbed his face. "Ow! Fucking bitch!" I got up and jumped head first out of the window. Mama grabbed my foot and looked up at me with a tear stained face.

"Don't go, I need you sweetie" she pleaded. I felt my heart twinge but kicked her away. If my sister wasn't going to be loved by our parents then I wasn't staying with them. Never.
