Chapter Four: Constant As The Stars Above (A Throwdown)

Lily's Pov
 
I hid in the bathroom crying and looked down at the letter in my hand.

Dear Lily Elizabeth,

You are my world baby, you're Father and I will always love you. Never forget that.

Constant as the stars above
Always know that you are loved

We always wanted a daughter and you. Only you, are the perfect little girl. I'm writing this before you are born because I can already tell and I want you to know.

"Lily?" Birdy knocked on the door and tried to open it. "Please let me in?" She asked. I wiped away my tears and tucked the paper in my pocket. I unlocked the door and she hugged me tightly. "Are you ready?" She asked. I nodded and held her hand. "As long as you are."

Michael stood in the room waiting for us and smiled when we approached him. He bent down to our height. "I just want you girls to understand that I'm doing this because I want to help you and give you both a loving family" he explained. I nodded and looked down. "Thank you."

"You're welcome Lily. Now I hope that you will trust me with this and listen." I gave him a confused look as he pulled out two blankets. They were small but sheer. "I want you to still have a normal childhood but because of the amount of attention I get, I don't want the public to know who you are. So if you cover your face while you're with me, you don't have to give that up" he explained. I looked at him hesitantly but took one and covered my head with it. Birdy did the same and we started walking out of the hospital.

I'm not sure why but when we got to the car. Might I mention it was a limousine! Michael sat in the front with his driver and I sat in the back with Birdy.

Michaels Pov

I sat in the front, which was rare for me and pulled my phone out. How was I going to explain this to Debbie?

Phone conversation
(D=Debbie M=Michael)
D- "Hello?"
M- "Hi Debbie"
D- "Is that you, Michael?"
M- "Yeah I just wanted to check in and see how you're doing?"
D- "I'm Alright I guess but your child keeps kicking me!" I chuckled and smiled.
M- "I'm so excited for him to come"
D- "Yeah well it's gonna be a lot of fun and work having another child"
M- "Yeah... you see that's the thing.."
D- "Oh no, what did you do Michael?"

I walked through the front door of Neverlands main house and Debbie dragged me up to the bedroom. "Wait I've gotta-"
"Gotta get your children settled in?" She interrupted me using air quotes for 'my children'. "Hey calm down it's fine" I reassured her, trying to help her sit down on the bed. "Don't touch me Michael! God I can't believe you did this" she yelled. I started pacing and rubbed my temples in frustration. "I'm only trying to help children in need. Why is that such a bad thing?" I retorted. She stepped in front of me and shoved her finger in my chest.

"Because you can't just go out one day and adopt 2 kids! I don't care who you are! You already have a family to look after!" She shouted. I inhaled deeply and shook my head. "You might not understand it but I'm just doing the right thing!"

"God dammit Michael you are so conceited! What are you going to do? Adopt every underprivileged child in the world?" She asked. "You know what, don't even answer that. I'm going!" She decided, running into her closet. She came out with a suitcase and started throwing clothes in it. "You're not leaving! It goes against your contract" I pointed out. She dropped the clothes she was holding and spun around. "I don't give a fuck what the contact says. I refuse to have a baby and hand it over to someone who doesn't value the meaning of family!" She exclaimed, zipping the suitcase up and walking as fast as she could out of the room. I followed her down the stairs and to the front door.

"And don't expect to see me again until you learn that value!" She concluded, slamming the door behind her. "Oh I'll see you before you know it.... IN COURT!!" I screamed at the door.

"M-Michael?" I looked to my side and saw Birdy crying in Lily's arms. "I knew this was too good to be true" Lily muttered.
