Kehlani Is My Mother

CHAPTER 3

"BEEP BEEP BEEP BE.." I cut off my alarm. I find that today I feel extra tired and sick. I get up and go in the bath to take a shower. When I'm finished, I go into my closet and take out a clean pair of undergarments. I also take out a high-waisted short jeans and a teal crop top. I put them on and go downstairs sluggishly." Hey. What's wrong?" Mama asks. I just shrug because I can' t explain how I'm feeling." Come here." Mommy says. I walk over and she pulls me into a hug. She puts her hand on my forhead." You' re burning up. How you feeling?" She asks." I don't know." I say with a hoarse voice." Get some water. I'll be back." Mama says walking up the stairs. I walk to the cupboard and get a cup and get some water. I chug the water down and turn to mommy. I cough and it hurts my throat." You got a cold." Mommy says." I don' t feel so good." I say going to lay down on the couch. Mama comes back with an ice pack and some medicine." Put the ice pack on your forehead." I do as she says. She goes in the kitchen and comes back with a spoon. She pours the medicine into the spoon." Hold up and take it." She says. I hold up and put the spoon in my mouth. As I swallow it, I cough beacuse of the taste." How'd you get the cold?" Mama asks. I shrug and lay back down suddenly feeling tired." Go to sleep." Mama says. I let my eyes close down and fall asleep.

KEHLANI'S POV

I walk into the kitchen to get ice. Shaina walks in and comes around my side. She wraps her arms around my waist and put her chin on my shoulder." Stop stressing." She says." I can' t. She's sick and her asthma is going to be worse. How did she get it?" I say and ask." I don' t know but we habe to stay here and watch her." She says. I sigh and walk over to the freezer." I just feel so helpless when she's sick." I say." Hey. You are helping take care of her even though that's the only thing we can do right now." She says. I nod and go back to the couch. I see Jaycee's chest rising up and down steadily. I sigh and sit down next to her. I rub her cheek and kiss her forehead." I'm going and take a bath and come back." I tell Shaina." Ok. Imma check on her while your gone." She says. I nod and go up the stairs.

SHAINA'S POV

I take Kehlani's spot and check Jaycee's temperature. It says 102.1 which is pretty high. I go and get a bowl with ice water and a cloth. I walk back to see Jaycee's chest rising up and down quickly. I put my hand against her chest to find out that she is wheezing." Shit." I say." Jaycee. Wake babygirl." She wakes up and has ber hand on her chest." I can't breathe." She says. She starts wheezing really badly and she tries to sit up but fails. She starts coughing in between wheezes. That is when you know it is bad. I sit her up." KEHLANI COME HERE!" I shout. I turn my attention back to Jaycee." Deep breaths Jaycee. Deep breaths." I say trying to get her to follow my actions. I hear footsteps quickly." Whats wrong?" She asks from around the corner not yet walking in the room."Go get the nebulizer quick." I say quickly. I see Jaycee's eyes start to clpse down. I lightly tap her face to keep her awake but it wasn't working. Her eyes shut down fully and her body goes limp. I start shaking her body." Jaycee wake up baby. Please wake up." I say feeling tears forming in my eyes." Kehlani hurry up." I shout." I'm here." She says. She gives me the nebulizer. I quickly put in the medicine and turn it on. I put the mask on her face and wait for her to show some type of sign that she will be okay." Come on. Come on." I say getting anxious. I see her breathe in and out slowly. I let go a breath of relief. I lay her back down so she could get some rest. I get up and walk over to Kehlani." You okay?" She asks." I was so scared when her eyes closed." I say tearing up. I let them fall." Hey. It's okay." She says hugging me. I nod and wipe the tears." Mama?" I hear a whisper. I turn around to see Jaycee sitting up with tears running down her face." Yeah baby." I say walking towards her. I sit down and pull her into a hug." I couldn't breathe. It was so hard." She started sobbing." Hey. Calm down before it acts up again. Plus you are okay." I say trying to stay strong. She nods and sniffles. I hear a knock on the door." Can you go and get that?" I ask Kehlani. She nods and walk to the door. I only asked her to do it because I can feel Jaycee going back to sleep." Hey. Come in." I hear Kehlani say. I see Will and Janelle come in. I forgot I was having them over." Hey guys. I'm so sorry. I forgot about you all." I say looking up at them." It's okay. We can see you have your hands full." Janelle says." You can stay as long as you want by the way." I say. I feel Jaycee shifting around on my lap. I look down to see that the mask is making her uncomfortable." What happened with my poor Jaycee?" Janelle asks. Okay ley me give you a little background story. Imma space belongs to Janelle and Will. I met them when we were in high school and we've been friends every since. They help me, I help them. Another thing, they are like Jaycee's aunt and uncle. So if Kehlani has to go on tour and I habe to go and work Jaycee and Natalie would stay with them. But anyway back to the story." She has a cold. And her asthma acted up. It was pretty bad. She passed out." I say sadly." Oh man. That is bad. Is that the worse she's have so far?" Will asks. I nod my head while looking down at Jaycee. She opens her eyes and start coughing. She brings up her hand to take off the mask but I push it back down and shake my head. She sits up and starts to cough more." What's wrong?" I ask starting to get worried again." It hurts. I can't breathe again." She says ready to cry." Hey. Come here." I say. She scoots across to me. I put my hand to her chest to feel her wheezing a little bit." Another one?" I ask. She nods not being able to speak." Jaycee deep breaths." I say while putting more medicine in the machine. I wait until it starts to work. She takes deep breaths and closes her eyes. I sit back down next to her and put her head on my lap. I put my hand on the couch handle and put my head in my hand and close my eyes." This is a bad one isn't it?" Janelle asks. I nod my head. Ten minutes later I feel Jaycee tap my leg." Take it off. Please." She says. I shake my head know that at any moment her asthma can trigger." Please mama." She says." If i see you start wheezing in the first five minutes, it's not being taken off again. You hear me?" I say and ask. She nods. I take it off and she takes a deep breath." Hey girlie. How you feeling?" Janelle asks." Hi. At the moment, I'm good." She says." I got a surprise for you when you're better." Will says." Really?" She says getting excited." Yup. Just give me a call when you're good but your mama gotta be next to you so I know you're good." Will says.

JAYCEE'S POV

I am lying down on my mama's lap. I sit because I feel like coughing but I don't want to because I know it will lead to me wheezing but I don't want to put back on the mask. The mask is very uncomfortable. I clear my throat but the urge to cough isn't going away. I clear my throat harder but sadly it brought the attention of my mama." You okay?" She asks. I just nod my head because if I talk then it will turn into a cough." You sure?" She asks. I nod again. I could feel myself start to wheeze again. But this time it was worse than the others. I give this one big wheeze that brings the attention of everybody. I clutch my chest and hold over. I squeeze my eyes tightly. It feels like someone is choking me." JAYCEE!" I hear mama shout. I try my best to pay attention to her but it isn't working." Jaycee look at me." Mama says. I wheeze really fast and I can feel myself losing conciousness. I open my eyes a little bit to see mama putting the medicine into the machine. I start to shake my head frantically." Come on Jaycee. You gotta put it on." Mama says. I shake head and clutch my chest even harder. She puts it on and it takes a while for me to catch my breath. I try fighting the sleep because I'm exhausted. But mama caught on and carried me bridal style into my bedroom." Go to sleep babygirl. I knkow you are tired." She says. I nod and close my eyes. She kisses my head and leaves my bedroom. I fall asleep eventually.

It's done. Only because I didn't go to skl today.
