It had been a few weeks since we started travelling, and, somehow, we were lucky enough to find somewhere. A community named Woodbury. The leader, who called himself the Governor, had welcomed us with open arms.

Well, Merle more so than me. See, Merle became one of his best buddies in our first week, whereas I was just... There.

I hadn't had a real conversation with the Governor the entire time I was there, since when we first arrived, I was still in mourning, and barely even made an effort to greet the guy.

Merle's seemed awfully... Protective.

In our week alone on the road together, although we barely spoke at all, he gave me the same feeling Glenn did, that feeling of being happy and calm just by being around someone, without having to talk to each other.

He'd saved my life more times than I could count. At one point, I felt so helpless, I'd given up all hope.

I stumbled backwards over a tree root, attempting with all of my might to balance myself, to hopefully avoid falling into the reach of a geek from behind me, whilst also trying to evade the one in front of me.

"Merle!" I screamed out in pain when I fell backwards onto a branch, impaling my bare side on it as I collapsed.

My screams became labored after I was sure I was going to die, either from bleeding out or from the geeks mere inches away from me.

Before they could reach me, however, a knife flew through the mouth of the closest one, it's bared teeth releasing one last raspy moan before falling limp on my legs. The one still standing soon followed suit.
