The car ride back to this home of theirs was silent. With Rick driving, Michonne in the front and Maggie, Glenn and I in the back seats, tensions were high.
I leant my head into the crook of Glenn's neck, with his arm wrapped around my body, the two of us returning to our old habit of just enjoying each other's presence.
That girl, Maggie, was clinging onto his right arm like she was a lost puppy. She was territorial over him, which pissed me off.
Immensely.
I mean, I was just reunited with my twin brother after not seeing him for almost a year, the least she could do is give us a minute of conversation between just the two of us to catch up.
But no, every time I went to talk to him, she either butted in or answered for him.
"Grace." Rick's voice came from the front seat and I lifted my weary eyes to meet his in the rearview mirror.
"Yeah?"
"How'd you end up at Woodbury?"
"I... I got hurt pretty bad. We were desperate, and when Merle found this group of people in the woods saying they had a community with doctors, I guess he was just quick to make the decision."
"He didn't ask you?" Glenn asked, craning his neck to look at me.
"Well, I mean I was unconscious, so... I guess not?"
"Your buddy over there was working for a psycho, and so were you." Maggie decided to add from Glenn's side, to which I sighed.
"Its not like I knew who the Governor was, alright? None of us knew what he was doing. Maybe Merle did, but I didn't. I mean, I was a fricking teacher! Its not like the Governor or anyone else in that place consulter me on any important business, especially any that included them torturing people!"
"Hey, Gracie, cool it, alright?" Glenn said softly but sternly.
"Cool it? You better be fucking kidding me! I'm stating facts here, so get your little country bumpkin here down off her damn high horse."
"Hey!" Maggie and Glenn yelled out unanimously.
Unanimous speaking... That used to be your thing... She's taking him, he doesn't need you any more... My ever so helpful subconscious decided to pitch in, really not helping the case at all.
"Grace, what the Hell's your problem?" Glenn asked, anger and confusion clear in his voice.
"Hey, maybe everyone should just calm down!" Rick yelled from the front, but no seemed to notice him.
"Are you forgetting that I'm the one who saved you out there? A thank you would be nice!" Maggie added.
"Oh, excuse my lack of manners, Honey Boo Boo. Thank you ever so much for scaring the ever living shit out of me, throwing me over a wall, and perhaps dislocating my ankle. Thank you, my knight in shining overalls." I said sarcastically, sighing to signal I was done with the conversation.
I shuffled over to the window, edging myself as far away from Glenn as I could. Everyone continued yelling at me, but I blocked them out and threw my hair around until it covered my face.
He doesn't need you, he doesn't want you, can't you see that? He has her now, for all you know, he had forgotten all about you until you ran back into his life. Why else do you think, in the obvious several hours you were passed out with them, he didn't even recognise you, or acknowledge your existence?
