Zach came up to me this morning and said "what if your nieces come every other weekend to spend time with?" He said hopefully. I thought about it "yeah" I say. His eyes brightened and hugged me. I laughed "when do we leave?" I ask him. "Tonight. Your adoptive family knows and you can see goodbye to your older sister and her family" he says. I nod
"What's today's date?" I ask him. "June 16th" He says. I look down "what's wrong?" Zach asks me. "Today is the day marking 2 years that my best friend Ellie took her life." I say with a tear going down my cheek. "I wasn't here. I was out of state and I don't know why she did it, Ellie never said goodbye. Zach. I never got so say goodbye" I say yelling while sobbing!
He hugs me tightly and rubs my back. "Never got to say goodbye zach" I say softly. He hugs me and doesn't say anything. I never told anyone about her. No one. _____ Later _____
I go downstairs to say goodbye to my older sister and her daughters and husband. I run into Kylie's arms (big sis) and I hug her so tight. "I'm gonna miss you Laura" she says. I nod "I love you" We say at the same time. We both laugh. I move onto to her husband Tyler.
He is the only person who truly understand what happened with Ellie. I hug him so tight and we are both crying. He looks down at me "You are brave, confident, and smart. Don't let anyone bring you down. I love you" He says. "I love you too Ty" I move onto the hardest people. My nieces. "Aunt Laura where are you going?" They ask. "I'm going to live with some very special people to me for a little while" I say.
I Neil down and say "you guys are gonna get to see me soon. Okay?" They nod and hug me. "I love you baby girls. Anna you work hard in school and don't let any push you around and if they do say your aunt Laura is gonna kick their butts" she laughs. "Kassidy. You take care of Ava you are a big sister now. You stay together with your sister. " she nods "I love you Ava" she smiles and laughs. I hug them all. "I love you" I say getting up "we love you aunt Laura" ____________ Phillies Airlines ____________
All of us walk onto the plane. I look out the window one more time and I am saying goodbye to the only home I've known. "Bye" I mumble and put my hand on the window.
