James and Lily and some of their diary entries throughout the years

Year 2

October 1972

Lily:

Dear Diary,

It's been almost 2 months since second year began and I just realized that I haven't made a new entry in a couple of weeks. Today we got to work with mandrakes in Herbology. Also, Professor Flitwick gave Gryffindor 10 points because I was the first one in class to do a Severing Charm perfectly! Then the "Marauders", as they like to call themselves, managed to lose those 10 points and 40 more during Transfiguration when they turned Sev and three of his Slytherin friends into ducks. Human transfiguration's pretty hard, but that was just mean. And Sirius and Remus just laughed when Professor McGonagall put them all in detention?

James Potter's the new Gryffindor Chaser, and now his ego is twice as big as it was. I don't get why Peter and Remus hang out with the toerags Black and Potter. Speaking of Remus, I wonder if he's ok. Yesterday he came to class with weird bites and scratch marks all over him. The same thing happened last month and the one before as well. I don't know. Something seems off.

James:

SIRIUS AND I TURNED SNIVELLUS AND HIS BUDDIES INTO DUCKS TODAY DURING TRANSFIGURATION! McGee took away 50 points and put us in detention for a week, but Evans was impressed by our flawless human transfiguration. Then Sirius and Remus caught me looking and laughed. I SWEAR I DON'T HAVE A CRUSH ON EVANS, I DON'T LIKE HER. Also, I'M THE NEW CHASER! With James Fleamont Potter on the team, there's no way Gryffindor will lose the Cup. On a different note, Sirius, Peter, and I think something's up with Remus. Why does he disappear every month and come back with scratches and bites all over him? We have a betting pool: Sirius thinks Remus is smuggling baby dragons (that's ridiculous). I'm guessing Remus is part of a secret fight club. Peter thinks werewolves??????? Wait... actually, that actually makes sense.

December 1972

James:

Werewolf. Dang it. Now Sirius and I owe Peter 20 chocolate frogs each. There's got to be a way to help Remus.

June 1973

James:

Did some digging in the library. Turns out werewolves only hurt humans. We'll be Animagi! PROBLEM SOLVED!
