Memories
I ran all the way just to see you,
Realizing I was stuck to you like glue.
I could never get away,
Without saying the words ‘I love you.’
But when I came
Everything turned plain.
And my heart sank under my stomach.
I was in the doorway with my sister and Mi-Mi,
You kept looking my way…
Your eyes described something you couldn’t hide,
And your face made you look less alive.
I remembered seeing your eyes,
Brown and ready to thrive.
Yesterday they were dead,
As if you were sleeping all day in bed.
Were you not happy to see me?
Is that why the blood was driven out from your glee?
Mi-Mi said I came especially for you,
But I doubt anyone heard that.
Maybe it was true,
I did come especially for you.
Our mentor would’ve let me see him,
But I knew it wasn’t right.
What could I say?
I didn’t even know I had run this way.
Before you came out,
I ran all about.
Far from that place I once knew.
Maybe one day I’ll visit again, but with the hope of seeing you differently.
The feeling was not how I remembered you.
And I’m hoping those feelings weren’t true.
