L went back in his cave and waited at the entrance for me to return the next day. I don't think he's gonna move until I make it there either.

~time skip~

I finally made it out of the woods. I can't believe I was out for that long. I wonder how momma held up without me.

I turned the corner where the house was in view. I smiled and began to walk faster. "I'm almost home." I was running and was so close to being home with momma. I can see it now, she'll be so surprised, hug me with a big smile. I can't wait to see the look on her face. She's gonna be so happy.

I slowed to a stop by the scene that confused me greatly. The front door came open and there she was. "Rebecca? What are you doing here?"

Her whole body tensed up as she turned her body halfway to see me. "Arreis no." She whispered.

I was even more confused. I have been gone for months and I just got back. Of all people, I thought she would be the first to be all up on me but she doesn't look too happy to see me.

I walked up to the door and tried to get past her. She pulled back at my wrist and looked down away from me. "NO!" She screamed.

I tried pulling away. "Rebecca, what is wrong with you? Get off of me!" I looked down to see she was crying. Seriously... again? "Why are you crying now?"

She sobbed while gripping my wrist tighter. "Please don't go in there." She looked up at me.

I looked closer. "What's that on your face?" I wiped my finger over her cheek and watched the red substance smear. My eyes widened in fear. I shoved her off of me and let her hit the ground.

I threw open the door and ran inside. "Mom?!" I looked around frantically. I shot to the living room, no mom, to the kitchen, no mom, dining room, upstairs, her room, my room, guest room, hallways, no mom... anywhere.

Rebecca ran in after me and clung to my arm. "Arreis please stop, don't go down there."

I froze... The basement. I ran down the hallway and stopped in front of the door. I never thought I would be so eager to get in there. I was more scared to go in now than I ever was before.

I turned the doorknob and slowly pushed the door open. "It wasn't me!" Rebecca screamed. But there was no way I wasn't too scared to listen.

Slowly, I took cautious, well thought steps down the old wooden stairs, too afraid to look up from my feet.

The last stair creaked as my weight shifted to the concrete floor with a tap that echoed from the heel of my shoe. I looked around to see the wall turned around with all the tools scattered everywhere.

A single tear slipped from my eye and dropped down from my chin. The pain hit me harder than any of the torturing gadgets ever did... There was blood everywhere... At the bottom of the wall, under the pile of tools, it was the most horrible sight I never wished I'd see... It was momma.

I felt sick to my stomach. I ran to her side tearing back the pile piece by piece. Slowly uncovering the horrible sight, tears filled my eyes and covered my the bottom half with wet streaks.

"MOMMA! DON'T YOU THINK YOU CAN JUST LEAVE ME LIKE THAT!" After most of them were away, I saw quite a few still stuck in her.

I gently removed all of them except for one that isn't so easily removed... It's a needle type weapon. After entering, it targets the biggest vein then drains your blood, filling the container connected to the other end. The container is removed by a button right above the button to inject bits of poison. If removed while hooked to a person, all poison is injected into the body. It cannot be removed without being through with taking the amount of blood entered into the dial pin... with the looks of it, it wasn't going to be done anytime soon.

"Momma... why?" I lifted her onto my lap and hugged her. I felt the warmth of a hand on my cheek. It was so comforting, so soothing, I've never felt so comfortably warm in my life.

I looked down and smiled. "Momma you're awake?" She smiled back. "Arreis, you're here... I never thought I'd see you again."

"Momma of course I'm here. I could never leave you like that... Momma what happened to you? Who did this?" I looked her over and cried deeper.

She caressed my cheek. "That doesn't matter. I was just going to leave you a note but now that you're here, I'm happy that I got to see you one last time."

I placed my hand over hers. "Don't say that. It's not the last time... You're not gonna die. I'm here and I'm gonna save you okay? Just hang in there. You're gonna be okay." I looked around for a phone. "REBECCA!!" I screamed as she rushed through the door and jumped down completely missing the stairs. "Call an ambulance. The house phone is on the kitchen counter." She nodded and ran up to find the phone.

"Arr...eis." Momma said quietly cutting out. "I just wanted you to know that I love you. I'm sorry... that  I... never said it... before but I'm saying it now. I know... It doesn't make up for it... But I love you so much." She was dying a lot faster than she should be. She must have starved herself.

"It's okay Momma you didn't have to say it before. I already knew you loved me. I'm sorry momma please don't leave me. I'll do anything. I'll get stronger, I'll buy more tools, I'll be happier, I'll do my best to make you happier just please don't go."

She started crying. "Arreis look at me." She said weakly. "Doing that never made me happy... I hated doing that.. to you... can't explain now but... you'll find out... soon."

I looked over her again. "M-momma?" I stuttered.

She smiled. "You are strong. After every horrible thing I have done to you, you have stayed strong. You are even stronger than I thought you would be... I'm so proud of you." She started to close her eyes.

"No Momma no don't leave me please you can do this! Hold on you're gonna make it! Don't you let go, hold on tight! REBECCA!! HURRY!! HELP!!" I looked back to Momma. I grabbed her hand. "Here. Squeeze my hand and don't let go no matter what." I barely felt any pressure down on my hand.

"Arreis..." She whispered. "Yes momma what is it?" I wiped her hair out of her face.

"I... love.....you." Her hand slipped from mine slowly and fell over her stomach.
