The Dragon I Met At High School

Chapter 18

After I grabbed his back pack, all his clothes, his phone and charger, and bathroom stuff, I went back downstairs and found some packing luggages. I went around the house and stuffed them full of things I thought would be his. I also didn't forget to grab some canned foods, chips, the drinks, and lots of ramen.

"I hope that's enough for now... I hope he's still there."

I strolled back into my cave, hands and arms full, to see Arreis safely sleeping on my bed. "Awww." I sat everything down in a corner.

"Well I guess it is pretty late." I said rubbing the back of my neck. I layed down next to Arreis facing him. He's so cute when he's sleeping. So peaceful. All that attitude gone in just minutes. I studied his face for hours not realizing that I had grown tired... I fell asleep.

Arreis's P.O.V.

"Hey! Get up! Come on! Doing this was your choice so get your ass up!" Sheesh! The guy tells me I have to go to school but doesn't even want to get up in time to get things done. L rolled over and groaned. "Uuuuhhhhh. Five more miiiiinnnnuuuuuuutttteesss." He complained.

How does this guy get up and show up on time for school every day? He doesn't even have an alarm clock. You can't have anything like that in a cave... no electricity. As for how I get up. I don't need an alarm clock or an alarm on my phone. I always wake up early. Usually I can't sleep but for a few hours, wake up around 1 or 2 and won't be able to get back to dreamland.

But it looks a lot later in the morning. I checked my phone. "Wow... it's 5:00 a.m." I shook L again. "Dude get up. It's 5:00. We need to get ready for school." L shot up. "School." He said rather quickly. I yelped and fell off the bed.

L crawled over and looked over the edge of the mattress. "Oh my god are you okay!?" I was on the floor clutching my heart and breathing rapidly. "You scared the living shit out of me! What the hell!?"

He stepped down and smiled at me. "Sorry Arreis. I didn't mean to scare you. To be honest, I forgot you were here." He chuckled to himself. "You were so scared. Hahaha." I glared at him. "Shut up!"

He sat down and hugged me. "Awwwww come on don't be so upset. I was only joking." He pouted.

I scoffed. "Where's my stuff so I can get dressed?" L let go of me and pointed to the corner. In your back pack and in some in the big luggage bag.

I walked over to my stuff and grabbed a pair of clothes from my back pack and placed the rest in another luggage. I turned around and faced him. "Don't look."

"Come on, it doesn't matter. We're both guys." He whined. I sighed. "Look I'm aware that you know of the markings I've gotten and for what reason but... I just don't want you to see so please...don't look." L turned and crossed his arms. "Fine."

I put on a black pair of skinny jeans with rips in them and a black veil brides short sleeve t-shirt then grabbed my back pack and put my shoes on and turned to see L in his underwear. I quickly turned back around, face bright red. "S-sorry. I didn't know you were... um..."

L chuckled. "It's fine. We're both guys right?" I stared at the wall. "Y-yeah I guess so." My face was starting to dim down a bit until I felt muscled arms wrap around my bare shoulders.

My face was steaming hot to the touch. His muscled warm chest pressed against me. I squeezed out of his grip. "H-hurry and get ready...We're gonna b late." I grabbed my stuff and headed out the cave.

"H-hey wait!" L screamed. I sighed. I'm gonna head there early since I'm already done with this. I do some stuff before school all the time anyway... meet you there."

I didn't really want to do anything today. Maybe just go to the coffee shop.

I walked through the coffee shop door but... no greeting this time. Everyone stop and stared. They all looked shocked but sympathetic. I slowly walked in and their eyes followed every step I made.

I sat down on a stool across from the workers. "Um... why is everyone staring at me?" I asked with my head tucked low under the hood of my jacket.

The girl that has been there for however long that I can remember, stood shocked and got all teary eyed. "Y-y-you're... back!" She jumped over the counter and wrap herself around my neck. "I'm so happy you're back!" She squealed.

She let go and stood so happily. "Okay today is whatever you want and it's on the house." She smiled widely. I just shook my head. "I couldn't ask that much from anyone."

"Please, I insist." She held her hands together and begged. I smiled. "Okay whatever choice of coffee and two banana nut muffins to go. Oh and some cherry cheese danishes... if that's not too much." I smiled shyly.

She nodded with determination. "I got this." She brought my order out and as she handed me my stuff I set down a twenty but she wasn't so willing to take it. "Fine, then can I just have a hug? I haven't seen you in a while."

I hugged her and slipped the twenty in her pocket and was on my way to meet Mr. Freed on the corner. This is something new that I haven't given him before and I'm sure he'll be happy to see me like always. It's just been too long.

I turned the corner to see emptiness. "What?" I looked around and saw no trace of him anywhere. I saw a laminated paper stuck to the wall. I walked over and it read,"R.I.P. our happy hero. Shoved young boy out from in front of a bus and instead took his place. His actions will be remembered, never to be forgotten.

I wrapped a Danish and sat it on the ground below the paper. "Thank you Mr. Freed." I walked away not sure if I was too numb to feel anymore heartbreak. It was all too much.

My friends turned on me then beat the living shit out of me, Rebecca still never gives up, mom, and now Mr. Freed.

The school grew larger in view. L was leaning against the brick wall by the entrance, waiting for me. My smile pushed aside all other feelings for now.

"At least I still have L."
