We were almost to our next class when we stopped to hear my name being screamed across the hall. "Arreis! ARREIS!!" I looked to see a short girl jumping up and down shoving through the crowd to get to me. I rolled my eyes and sighed. "Her."

L tugged on my sleeve. "Who's she?" I groaned. "Some girl who has a crush on me. She's annoying and I told her I don't like her like that but I don't think she's gotten the hint." He smiled. "I got this." I was confused as to what his plan was.

He grabbed my hand and our fingers intertwined. She got close to us and gave him a disgusted look then looked back at me. "Hi Arreis." She said excited to see me.

L clung to my arm. "Honey who's this?" He asked. I understood it then. He was pretending that we were a gay couple. I went along with it. "O-oh um this is Becky. And Becky this is Ellebasi, my..." L cut me off not thinking I had quite understood it yet. "Boyfriend." He smiled. "We're so happy together."

She was pissed. "I'm happy for you both. Have a nice day." She said then stomped away.

I looked down at my arm and hand. "Hey um L, you can let go now." He looked down and quickly released me from his grip. "Oh right...sorry."

I looked down and sighed. "Hey L?" He looked over. "Hm?" I looked at one of his tattoos on his arm as an excuse not to look in his eyes. "Why are you so nice to me? We barely know each other and you keep doing stuff to help me and you've saved my life more than once. I don't understand. What is--" I was cut off.

"I'm never nice to people. I don't even talk to them. I usually stay to myself so I don't know what it is about you but I feel like I can't function without you now. I feel line I have to be there with you. I'm sorry if it sounds weird but... That's just how I feel." I shook my head. "No. It's not weird at all. I feel the same way." He smiled. "Really?" I nodded.

He smiled real big and started walking again. I grabbed his sleeve. "Hey I have an idea. Why don't we hang out at the park today?" He rubbed the back of his neck. "Um sorry man but I can't do anything after school, I have somewhere I need to be."

"Well what about now?" I grabbed onto his hand. He raised his eyebrows. "Now? Won't you get in trouble with your mom?"

An image flashed into my mind of what she would do if she found out I wasn't being a good boy.

L's eyes widened and he looked scared. I continued to smile. "Nope."

I tugged at his arm and pulled him along. "What's wrong? You scared?" He looked offended. "Me...scared...no way." I rolled my eyes at him. "Then come on."

We ran out the doors and no one stopped us. We were out of view of the school so we slowed down and he walked behind me. We made it to the park and I immediately fell on top of the benches. He laughed at me.

"Wow you really are tired." I flipped over on my back. "Yeah." I sat up and bit my lip hesitant to speak. He cocked his head to the side. "What is it?"

"I remember." He was obviously getting nervous. "Remember what?" I crossed my legs. "Everything. I remember having to carry you through there, waiting, the wolves, the fight, waking up in that place, you telling me that it meant a lot to you, the conversations, the woman, the spell, the healing... it didn't even feel like a dream."

L jumped back. "WHAT!? THERE'S NO WAY! YOU WERE SUPPOSE TO FORGET! HOW DO YOU REMEMBER THAT!?" I jumped down. "Hey don't treat me like the bad guy just because I remembered something! If anything, I'm the victim here!" I calmed down. "I'm sorry I yelled. I didn't mean to, really, I'm sorry L."

He reached his hand out to touch me and say it's okay but I reacted the way I would if I had just yelled at momma. I flinched and covered my face with my arms as if that would stop anything.

He pulled his hand back. "Arreis..." He sat down on the bench and pulled me into his lap.

"H-hey! What are you doing!?" He burried his face into my neck. "Hugging you."

I managed to squeeze out of his grip. He pouted. "What's wrong? Haven't you ever been hugged before?" I looked down and shook my head slowly.

He stood. "Hey...It's okay I..." He clutched his side and dropped to his knees. Oh no this is happening again. But what do I do?

"L!" I dropped to his side. "Are you okay!? Dammit what can I do to help!?"

He stood up. "I'm fine... Stay here!" He ran straight toward the woods.

No way. There's no way in hell that I'm missing this again. I can't just sit back and let him run to god knows where.

He ran through the entrance of the trees with me following closely behind. He was fast for someone in so much pain.

Something was off about him. I don't mean like sick off. More like strange. I mean he could tell what I wanted all the time, he was always around me when I was in trouble, he knew what I was saying when I said it in my mind, and the things he said when we were in that cave, the way he acted. He was no ordinary person I'll tell you that.

I stopped and looked around. "Shit I lost him. I wasn't paying attention." I ran in the same direction hoping I would find him. I didn't have any luck doing it that way so I changed it up a bit. I turned left, no luck. I turned right, no luck. I couldn't hear a thing except for my footsteps. No birds, the wind wasn't blowing, I didn't even see any bugs or animals.

Then I realized how dumb it was to change direction when my surroundings looked nothing like what I was familiar with. There my luck began...I was lost.

I sat down and plopped back into the leaves. "Why does this happen to me all the time? Do I have no good luck at all?"

I heard something crunching in the leaves. I shot up. What was that? I saw a figure making its way through the trees. I looked closer. "Oh no." I wanted to bury myself under the leaves and die. It's her...
