It has been a week sense I have chosen Wyatt and he still hasn't done anything and we have not been talking a lot. It makes me sad, how could anyone do that to someone. You can't leave someone after they express their feelings to you. I mean come on that's just cruel. I feel so empty right now, did I get dumped before getting asked out? (is that even a thing?) But enough moping, I have a presentation today in English, we have to write a response to literature thing. I did mine on Seventeen Syllables. I got dressed for the day and walked downstairs to grab my backpack in my phone. Then I got my shoes on and walked to school.

I went through all of my classes and then lunch and still Wyatt had not talk to me. I was sitting g at the table talking to Abby when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and to my surprise Cole started there. "Hey Ava an I talk to you? In private." He said. "Ya, What is it?" I said getting up and walking with him. "Ava I'm sorry for this and in sorry for telling you so soon after, you know. But I'm moving next week to North Carolina." He said looking really upset. "Cole I'm, it's ok amd I know you will be fine. You are strong and you can get though this." I said trying to be happy. Than we Justus walked back to the table.

When it came for fifth hour I got in class and waited till the teacher started talking and I got my presentation out. The teacher called names out in alphabetical order by first name so I went first. I walked up the front of the class with my presentation and began.

"hi my name is Ava and I did my presentation on 17 syllables. In the Asian culture it is the norm to have an arranged marriage. With most of those family's they struggle to find a happy medium in which they have their culture mixed with the new American culture and sometimes this causes struggles in the family, it can influence how their children act. After all a child copies everything their parents do. In Seventeen Syllables the daughter (our main character) is noticing more and more that her mother and father or not getting along at all. This story is about how the daughter is watching her family slowly fall apart. The author believes that when you marry for anything but love it will eventually cause struggles within the family. This is seen through Rosie's confusion at her parents continually changing attitude towards each other and adult Rosie's point of view of her parents falling relationship.

In " Seventeen Syllables " Hisaye Yamamote believes that when you get married for anything but love it will eventually cause struggles within the family. This is first shown through (the main character) Rosie's confusion at her father's anger towards her mother. For example during a visit to the family Rosie's mother started to talk about her haiku with the other members of the family, when it was time for them to leave Rosie's father told his wife to get up but she wanted to finish talking first. Rosie's father was upset that his wife wasn't leaving when he wanted her to so he got up and left." her father saying nothing went out the door." (2) In this quote Rosie is beginning to notice the signs of her parents new attitudes towards each other. Rosie however chooses not to say anything to her parents thinking that they are only having a little spat and that everything will be better in the morning. Rosie chooses to ignore her parents disagreement and tries to act normally. Because of her parents bickering it caused Rosie to struggle with how to deal with what her father was saying about her mother.

In " Seventeen Syllables " Hisaye Yamamote believes that when you get married for anything but love it will eventually cause struggles within the family. This is first shown through (the main character) Rosie's confusion at her father's anger towards her mother. Secondly after Rosie's mother won a painting in a haiku contest the father grew angry at her mother because she wasn't acting traditionally so "he threw the picture to the ground and picked up the axe"(5)In this quote Rosie is definitely starting to see her parents struggling to stay together for their daughter. Rosie wants to find out why her parents are acting so mean to each other. Rosie chooses to ask her mother about the problem as she is more approachable.

In " Seventeen Syllables " Hisaye Yamamote believes that when you get married for anything but love it will eventually cause struggles within the family. This is first shown through (the main character) Rosie's confusion at her father's anger towards her mother. Lastly after Rosie asked her mother why her and father weren't getting along her mother started to explain the root of the problem. "do you know why I married your father?.... I married him as an alternative to suicide" (6) In this quote Rosie finally knows why her parents don't get along . Rosie finds that her mother forced her aunt to arrange a marriage for her saying that if she didn't she would commit suicide. Rosie now has to cope with the fact that all their family problems are caused by her parents. Rosie has to process that her parents don't love each other and that they never did.

In conclusion if one marries for anything but love then one will most certainly have struggles within the family eventually. This is shown through Rosie's father anger at the mother not acting traditionally, then through Rosie's fathers cruelty in destroying the mothers prize, and finally through the mother's admittance of why she married the father. Now I would like to ask you to think about all of your decisions fully before you do anything. Now that concludes my presentation thank you for your time. "

I walked back to my seat. I started to listen to the next person but my mind started to drift off. I started thinking about Cole and Wyatt. I eventually started to daydream. I was off in a different world. All of a sudden the bell rang and amd a snapped out of my daydream. I got up and walked to my next class.
