Giovani LaFantaine,
How I loved your last name,
Your smile, laugh and individuality,
These are some of the things that stood out to me,
You always knew what to say,
Or how to act to brighten my day,
You held my heart none too carefully,
For there was a catch only I could see,
You didn't know my love for you and still my love remained true,
Years went by and the emotion stayed,
I wrote songs and poems,
I even prayed,
I was never able to gather the nerve, the courage that love deserves,
I felt a million miles apart and yet there you stood holding my heart,
Did you ever feel the same?
Did you ever catch your breath whenever i passed by?
Did you ever stay up late into the night,
Thinking of me, did it bring you delight?
To have someone holding your heart?
That right there is the scary part,
But I ignored my fears and my friends warnings too,
For all I wanted was to be with you,
One day I found courage hidden in the dark,
I grabbed it by the tail and took it with me then,
No one could stop me when I was determined,
I strode up to and asked for your attention,
It was then courage forgot to mention,
You were holding my heart over the cliff,
You were ready to drop it into the abyss,
I told you what you held,
And it was there my heart fell,
You dropped it laughing as it shattered leaving me in tatters,
On the edge I cried,
And from the edge I was pried,
My friends picked me up and dusted me off telling me I was ok,
But the thing is my heart has remained shattered since that fatal day.
