If something is said by the character don't get offended. Please and thank you.
...and yes Lucia is Hispanic.

Lucia
Dinner couldn't have been anymore awkward. The adults looked like they were enjoying themselves, Eric was texting under the table, and as for Aaron and I? We glared daggers at eachother, okay, well maybe just me. But that was because I don't like him and I don't socialize with the enemy and no one can tell me otherwise.
"Lucia wants to be a lawyer. Isn't that right, mija?" I blinked and saw everyone staring at me expectantly.
"Yeah, people need a voice and America is twisted enough." I replied, picking at my food.
Aaron's dad laughed, "America isn't twisted. It's a free country. That's why it's so ethnically diverse."
I raised an eyebrow and saw my mom shooting me a warning glance but I ignored it, "So separating immigrants from their children isn't twisted?"
Everything went silent even Eric stopped texting.
Aaron's mom cleared her throat, "Well that's a wonderful career. I'm sure you'll be very successful, sweetie."
I smiled, "Thank you."
"Aaron here wants to be a football player just like his older brother."
I glanced at Aaron who was across from me and noticed him tense up.
Hm...that's weird.
"Yeah. It's my dream." Was it just me or did he sound a little sarcastic?
"Football?" I asked.
"Yes, football." Aaron replied sourly.
Yep, definitely sarcastic.
"What's your back-up plan?"
"Back-up plan?" Aaron's dad interrupted.
I nodded, "You know...a plan B just in case he doesn't make it into football?"
Aaron's dad laughed, "There's no back-up plan. Aaron will make it. There's no doubt."
I raised an eyebrow, "What if he doesn't?"
"I'll make it." Aaron interrupted.
I was about to say something but my mom stopped me. "Well...Lucia why don't you go get the dessert, please?"
Her smile was forced, which was code for: 'Keep your mouth shut or I'll shut it for you.'

We were all stuck in the living room with the adults talking about I don't even know what. Honestly, how long can a conversation keep going? They're adults. They don't do much. Talking about work doesn't sound appealing either.
I sat next to my mom trying hard not to fall asleep. What can I say? If I opened my mouth again my mom will have my head. It's not my fault Aaron's dad pisses me off. I already dislike him enough. I don't need his dad in the picture.
"I'm going out for a walk, excuse me for a bit." I said, trying to sound as polite as possible.
I made my way to the door but Aaron's mom stopped me. "Aaron, walk with Lucia it's getting dark and we can't have a young lady walking on her own at night."
Aaron sighed but stood up, "Sure."
I opened the door not even waiting for him to catch up and walked outside.
