Clack. Clack. Clack.
I frowned in my bed. What was that noise? I waited a few more minutes and then quickly shrugged it off. I shifted into a more comfortable position and snuggled closer to my blankets.
Ah, finally sweet and blissful sleep.
Clack.
Are you freaking kidding me? I sat upright on my bed and looked around my room. Where the heck is that ugly noise coming from? I rubbed my face in frustration. If I can't sleep tonight, on a school night, I am going to be a very grumpy girl tomorrow and I'm already cranky enough half the time. Nobody deserves to have a sleepy and moody Lucia Torres on their side. I can't even tolerate myself sometimes. Ugh. Someone needs to have mercy on my poor soul. I'm a terrible person but I don't deserve such an awful punishment.
Clack.
There it goes again. It was coming from the window. Great. If it's a thief that's just going to add to my misery. I grabbed a random shoe from the ground and tip-toed my way to the window. I quickly pulled open the blinds only to find Aaron staring right at me from his bedroom window.
With a rock.
In his hand.
I opened the window and glared at him, "I'm about this...close to killing you." I hissed.
"Were you asleep?" he asked quietly.
"No. I was out hunting goats." I replied, sarcastically.
"Why are you so pissed? It's barely 10."
"I don't care. When I'm tired, I'm tired. Do you really want to get me crankier than I already am?" I fixed my French braids and gave him another dirty look, "I'm going to bed. Bye. I hope you have nightmares."
He chuckled, "Sorry, I can't take you seriously in those braids."
"Well I'm glad I provided you with entertainment for the night. Now leave me alone." I started walking back into my room when I felt something hit my butt. I looked down and saw a rock on the floor. Oh hell no.
I walked back to the window, "What do you want?" I snapped.
"Don't leave. I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to make fun of you. You just look really adorable. Like a little girl."
I smiled sweetly, "Yeah? Well you know what else is adorable? My foot...in your face."
Aaron chuckled, "Thanks."
"I wasn't kidding."
"That's not what I meant."
I gave him a weird look, "What?"
He rubbed the back of his neck. He was no longer smiling or laughing. He looked serious and worn out. "My dad and I...we're not on
good terms." he finally confessed.I shifted uncomfortably why is he telling me this? What does he want me to do? Wave my magic wand and make everything better?
"Anyways," he clapped his hands together and smiled, "thanks for tonight. You're a pretty good friend."
"I really had no choice. You attacked my window with rocks, remember?"
Aaron nodded and chuckled, "Right. Well it's getting late, I'll let you sleep now. Goodnight, Luce."
Luce?
Luce?
"I thought we agreed on no nicknames," I said as I started walking back to my bed, not even bothering to close the window.
