"Jug, come on. Don't answer it," Betty said, with a bad look on her face. "Betts, I have to and you know that," I had said. I really didn't want to answer, but I had to. It was important.
"Hello? Toni?"
"Jug. Listen, I need you," Toni said. I know she knew I was with Betty. She's bisexual, but I couldn't care less.
"Toni, what the hell? I can't, you know I'm with b-"
"Yeah. Betty. I know! I just.... I really need this" Toni said. She sounded desperate.
I wasn't having it. I couldn't do it. I needed to be with Betty, especially after the night before.
"No, Toni. I'm staying here" I hung up. I couldn't take it. "She's so annoying, Betts." Betty didn't say anything. I couldn't tell if she was mad or jealous or still in shock.
I didn't know what to say.
"Do you want to talk about it?" I said, with care in my voice.
"Jug, I'm scared. What if... what if it happens again. Riverdale used to be such a good, small, town. Then my sister gets shot and now..." she was scared. She needed me. If I had gone to Toni, Betty would be lost.
"Hey, come here" I said.
We were still laying in bed, her in my S t-shirt and messy hair. I kissed her. She kissed me back.
If only that had led to something bigger, but something banged on the damn door.
