Alexander stood across from his fathers desk, watching Arabella speak to him about Luca. He was mesmerized, seeing how quickly she took over the situation and was handling it so well. Back in the hospital room, he had to hold in a smile when she told him to back down. He was angry, yes, but that was because of the fact that her best friend loves her. And more than that, they were so close. Alexander thought to make it his mission to get to know her before this attack, because he fears it may be his last.
"And that's all Luca said...I wasn't paying that much attention." Alexander watched a blush creep up her cheeks and he turns to his chuckling father.
"I guess that's what we get when we have a kitten shifter. No offense darling."
"None taken." She smiles. "I have a short attention span in kitten form." She shrugs and sits by Alexander, putting her legs in his lap.
"I guess this means we're going to war then." His father sighed. "Alexander, I want you and your mate to get to know each other. I know you both want to and since this war is very serious, I want you two to be happy. Go to the log cabin a couple miles south. You'll be away from everything, and it'll keep you both safe."
"I'm not leaving this pack to fight this war without me!" Alexander growled and glared at his father. "I will not just abandon them and leave them to fight my fight," Alexander looks at Arabella with an intense gaze. "Our fight. This is our future, dad, and if her father wants to kill me because I'm her mate, then he's going to have to try. I'm going to protect her with my life, and I sure as hell am not going to let him take that from me." Alexander stood and walked to his father's desk. "I'm not leaving."
"Very well then. Spend your time wisely. There will be a pack meeting tomorrow morning to get the preparations ready and to introduce our new member of the family." Alexander sighed and nodded his head. "Go have fun while you can, son."
Alexander took Arabella by the hand and escorted her out of the room. His mind was everywhere, with the upcoming war then to Luca, and all back to Arabella. He needed to find out what she liked. He abruptly turned around, causing her small frame to bump into him. He chuckled and caught her before she fell. He smiled innocently when he met her glaring eyes.
"Bella, what would you like to do today?" Her glare softened and she placed her finger on her lips and crinkled her eyebrows, thinking. He saw the moment when the lightbulb went off in her head.
"Is there a zoo around here? I've never been to one."
"You've never been to the zoo?"
"Nope, we had one arond the pride lands but dad would never let me go."
"Well, milady," He bowed dramatically and smirked at her. "Would you accompany me to the zoo this fine afternoon."
"Why of course, kind sir. It would be my greatest pleasure to accompany you." Alexander laughed and pulled her in to a kiss as she giggled.
"Go get ready, love. We'll buy you some clothes too while we're out." She smiled and kissed him on the cheek. Alexander watched as she quickly ran back to his bedroom. He shook his head and smiled, watching her almost trip up the stairs.
Alexander walked to the kitchen and began talking with the pack cook about the preparations for tomorrow's ceremony and meeting. She was excited to see who his lovely Arabella was and to show her the most wonderous things about cooking. Alexander told Meredith everything he knew so far about Arabella, which wasn't much considering it's only been a day or two.
