I sprint out of the school building. If I forgot to mention my parents are dead so there is no place for me to live except school, but everyone lives at a school or at their work place anyways. That's why the law states that no one can be fired or expelled unless a crime was committed. This renders the expelled as an out cast living on the streets. Most out casts don't last longer than a few months, but I will prove that statistic wrong.
So I go to the only place I can think of which is the abandoned apartment buildings. The old abandoned apartment building is 15 stories high and is the oldest building in Sasnak.
Windows are cracked, old desks are broken, glass covers the floor, but thankfully some beds are still intact. The building itself looks like it could collapse at any moment though, but I assure you it is structurally sound. I think.
After the virus of year 2327 that turned people into mutated animals or killed them. Death was a mercy back then. Or so I've heard. Anyways the government at the time had found a cure it shut down the animal inside people so when they were exposed to the disease they would not be changed.
Once I've searched the building from top to bottom I found one of the rooms that was not too damaged. It had a bed, a torn couch, a comfy chair, a battered desk, and a chipped table. There is a cracked, but unbroken window that faces into an alley. After I search around I find a linen closet with blankets in it. I need to shake out the dust, but they should be good to go.
I decide to explore this rickety building looking for things I can salvage. I also want to see if there is any way to turn on power. If I'm going to hack into the Guard then I'll need power to charge the laptop.
My boots clunk down the steps. I'm still wearing the uniform that I had on when I left. So I'm wearing a green and black flannel looking skirt, a green sweater with a white t-shirt underneath, and a tie. My hair is pulled pack into a french braid tied with a black ribbon. Most of my hair has fallen out of the braid though.
I finally find some candles, and matches. When I say some candles I mean like a solid two dozen. I also found a few boxes of matches so I'm set with light.
After I bring the candles up to the I head to the basement where the electrical box is. Looking at all the wires I see that the box isn't connected to the main power grid.
"If I just connect this wire to that one then... it should... work," I say splicing the wires. I flip the switch waiting for something to happen. Then the lights flicker on.
"YES!" I scream waving my hands in the air triumphantly.
I sprint up the stairs to my room. Well, I sprint up one flight, but then I get out of breath. I should have tried harder in P.E., but oh well.
Once I reach my room I dash to my computer, and plug it into it's charger.I begin my hack. It took me a few minutes to hack into their data base. I scroll through lists of projects one catches my eye, Project Aberration. What the heck is that? I press on the open tab, and it opens up to several pages of detailed notes. This is going to take me a while to read. I start to skim through it. Apparently it was about the mutation problem. I thought that was over with three hundred years ago. What are they doing there?
I end up reading through that and other topics. A few hours later, I am brain dead. I decide to get some sleep. I grab the softest, cleanest blue blanket, and I lay down on the bed.
Tomorrow I will learn more, and tomorrow I start taking them down from the inside. Only first I need sleep, and lots of it.
