We enter the Principal's office, Theodore still refusing to let me go.
Principal Jones stares at us disapprovingly from behind her large oak desk. Her glasses have slid down the bridge of her nose, giving her the classic 'pissed off librarian' look. "Mr. Grey, I'm sure Miss Silverstone has not gone cripple in the few minutes between our last conversation and now."
Conversation? There was no conversation, merely her screaming at us.
Theodore glances down at me, an alien emotion glittering in his dark brown eyes. He shakes his head slightly, a small stiff movement. Instead of releasing me, he tightens his already firm grip on me, glaring at the middle aged woman defiantly. "Indeed, she has not, ma'am."
Principal Jones scowls at him, gesturing for him to place me on the ground. "She has feet for a reason, set her down."
He tenses, taking a small step back towards the door. "I don't take orders from a hu -from you. She is mine, I will carry her if I want to."
He sounds like a stubborn five year old, it's rather adorable. Which is rather alarming, I need to hold back these odd feelings. Squirming nervously in his hold, I try to ignore the sweet expression on his face. With a gulp, I reassure him, "It's okay, you can hold my hand, Theodore."
His eyes darken noticeably, which is rather disconcerting.
"Uhh..."
He cups my cheek and flares his nostrils.
What the...
I'm not gonna lie, it's kind of a turn on, surprisingly.
Principal Jones clears her throat, raising a brow. "Excuse me, am I interrupting something?"
Not entirely sure.
"Yes," growls Theodore under his breath, making me want to giggle.
I mean, um...it definitely does not make me think he's really cute...or anything...
She shoots him a harsh glare before facing me, annoyance clear in her gaze. "It seems that you are the one I need to talk to, Miss Silverstone. I want you two sitting on separate chairs right now."
Confused, I gape at her order. She thinks I can make him let me go? Doesn't she see that I have been trying?
Despite my thoughts, her stern glare has me looking up at Theodore with pleading eyes. "Theodore, please, just listen to her. I don't want detention, I'm sure you don't either."
Seeming hesitant, he reluctantly loosens his grip before tightening it again, like I'm a stress ball. Extremely tense and hostile, he glares at Principal Jones while he carefully sets me on my feet. As if he can't stand not touching me, he immediately grabs my hand and walks me to a chair in front of her before sitting beside me.
All the while, his glare never leaves Principal Jones'.
His calloused thumb rubs the backs of my knuckles, which is oddly relaxing.
"This is all just a misunderstanding," I explain to Principal Jones. "There was no PDA. Please, PDA stands for 'public displays of affection', I barely know this guy. He was just hugging me! He's a hugger, he just walked up to me and hugged me! No PDA!"
Okay, I may have gotten a bit...erm excited. I sit on the edge of my seat, hands flat on her desk after delivering my loud speech.
A bit defensive, possibly. But for good reason!
I'm an innocent for heaven's sakes!
Unbelievingly, she raises her thin brows at me. "Really?"
I nod enthusiastically, sparing Theodore a glance. He stares at me, as if entranced. It's quite unnerving. "Tell her," I urge him quietly, breaking him out of his daze.
