“I'M TIRED OF THIS! MOVE OUT OF MY SEAT, I DIDN'T EVEN DO ANYTHING TO YOU GUYS TODAY!"
I jumped. Looking up I realized it was a girl that was yelling. “I ..." She opened her mouth to yell, but must have realized I was not who she thought I was.
I had immediately stood up and started to walk to another table almost in tears. Ya emotional I know. I just hate being yelled at. It reminded me of ... Things.
You know you totally deserved that. I taunted myself.“Wait, wait" I heard a voice following me. I just wiped my eyes and kept walking. That's when I felt a hand grab my arm. Me being my paranoid self, I had jumped again. “I....I'm sorry" She stuttered out.
She looked at me, noticing my fear. She was, after all twice my size, and still had her hoodie up, so I could not see her face. “I'm sorry" she repeated. “I thought you were one of them." She said, emphasizing the last word.
I looked at her confused. She mirrored my look. Grabbing the marker I wrote 'them?' She read the board, and pulled me back to the table. I tried to resist bit being the small weakling I am, it was no use.
I sat down next to her. “ I thought you were one of those jerks who like to bully me. They dye stuff black and sit here pretending to be me and saying calling me names." I nodded so she knew I was listening. “ I'm Luna by the way, the apperiently phsyco, girl." She stated extending her hand.
I shook it and wrote 'scarlet Reese, the definitely phsyco, mute girl.' I then slid the board over to her. She read it over and laughed. She slid the board back over “any particular reason your mute?"
I nodded. “Any reason you're going to share?" yes. I shook my head no,despite what it said.
“ Oh" she said, smiling sadly. We talked all of lunch. She turned out to be not that bad. Her name was Luna knight, listened to the same bands as me, wore the same stuff. Hated the girls at this school. “And that's Tony" she said pointing to a short black haired boy who had sat across from us.
She was introducing me to the people who say around us. I learned that this was the 'emo' table. And that I was not the only one who was outcasted.
Laiter that day I was walking out from seventh period. Math. Hate it. I ended up walking with Luna and Tony, the only people I had met. They told me there were usually 3 more people but they were sick.
Walking with them, some kid walked up and attempted to pull down Lunas hood. She grabbed his hand before he even touched her hood. Still, without turning her head, she warned “don't you fucking dare touch my hoodie or I swear you regret it". She let go oh his wrists, which were now bruised.
He slowly backed away, rubbing his wrists. I stopped for a second. I've never seen under her hood. I thought. It was true. I hadn't seen her hair, eyes or any part of the top half of her face. What could she possibly be hiding. I questioned myself. Well you're hiding allot, So you can't talk. My demons pointed out.
Shut up. I replied.
Make me. It said.
“Hey, uh, Scarlet, you ok?" Tony asked. I cocked my head to the side, questioningly. “You kinda stood there, clenching your fists." 'oh', I mouthed.
I looked around awkwardly. Looking ahead, I saw Luna stomping off. She was a few yards ahead of me. I looked over at Tony who was now by my side.
I hadn't actually stood this close to him, until now. He had black hair, the kind you can flip. He was just barely my height, which was short. His fringe just reached the tip of his nose. It was ironed flat and was uneven. He also had a lip ring and a rounder face. I noticed he wasn't as skinny as me, but had little fluff.
I hadn't really heard him talk all day, as he was very shy. His voice was soft though. I quickly wrote 'what was that about?'. With my hand being shaky still, and the speed at which I was writing, my scrawl was untidy. He paused after reading it before answering.
“She has this.......thing. She always keeps her hood up. I'm the only person who's ever seen under it. Their is a reason her names Luna" He explained. What? How could anything be that bad and can be kept under a hood?
