She waited.
One hour,
Two hours,
Three hours passed.

She looked around, her eyes welling up with tears. Her heartbeat starts to quicken as she looks at her neon yellow watch on her right wrist.

She looks up with tears running down her cheeks as she tries to steady her own breathing.
She puts her hand on her chest, wrinkling her school uniform and tie slightly.

"Maybe he forgot about me..." She told herself, holding her head up high to look for her father. "Papa... Where are you?"

She slumps back down on the waiting shed's bench, tears pouring out of her chocolate brown eyes. The thought of her father leaving her in the school alone made it worse as she spilt more tears down her face.

Spain came running, as fast as his legs could carry and up to the waiting shed.

He quickly spotted his daughter who has her face on her knees as her knees were against her chest. "Oh, Maria..."

The little girl's head moved slowly but her eyes were still darted directly at her knees.
There was only one nation who can call him that.

She slowly lifted her eyes to the direction of the familiar voice. Her eyes expressed shock and a wave of gladness flowed through her system.

The older nation took one good look at his daughter and quickly rushes to her side, wanting to comfort her. The only thing Maria did was to push the older nation away.

"Maria..." Spain breathed out, looking at his daughter who was currently crossing her arms together.

"Why did you take so long to get here!?" The little nation complained, her eyebrows were furrowed and her eyes expressing anger.

"Anak... Ang bahay natin ay kay gulo, tapos lubog pa ako sa trabaho...Na traffic pa ako sa highway at kailangan ko talaga ng mirakulo para lang makarating dito. Anak, pansenya na si tatay. Hindi na mauulit. I promise."

My child... our house is a mess, and I'm bombarded with work... I got stuck in traffic on the highway and I needed a miracle just to get here. My child, I'm sorry. It will never happen again. I promise.

Maria looked up at her dad. She felt pity yet she still felt anger.

"I-I thought you left me... I thought you got tired of taking care of me... I th-thought you got tired p-picking me up from school... I thought-"

"Pero nandito na ako, anak pasenya na. Nandito na ako, anak makinig ka," Spain reassured her as he lifts up her chin to make her face him.

But I'm here, my child I'm sorry. I'm here, my child please listen.

Spain cups both of her cheeks and kisses her forehead before speaking again. "Huwag mag-isip ng kung ano-ano dahil wala nang mas mahalaga sa iyo."

Don't think of any nonsense things because nothing is more important than you.

The little nation's face lit up as she hugs the taller male.

"I love you so much, Maria. Always remember that." Spain whispered as the two shared a sweet embrace.
