Stumbling into the car I swung the door open and scrambled into the vehicle. Shutting the door I pressed a button, the doors locking as I started the engine. I'm a coward, I thought as I started driving down the road that lead out of my territory. My body was buzzing with panic and adrenaline as I neared the edge of the territory I glanced in the rear view mirror. No one was following me which caused me to eased some of my panic.

As I finally crossed the territory line I drove towards the Pack in the east, towards the desert. Towards the Furo Pack. As the thick trees started to thin out, becoming less and less the grass and dirt was soon being replaced with sand. The closer to the Furo pack I got the more the sand grew the more the pounding in my head grew. Crossing into another Pack's territory without permission or invitation was frowned upon by many Packs. As I entered the Furo pack I frowned at the lack of guards. Stopping the car and I got out as two women seemed to appear out of nowhere. Both of them wore dresses that seemed to blend into the desert behind them. Drawing their spears they pointed them at me.

"Who are you to come here?" One of the women asked, her dark hair pulled back into a tight braid.

"I'm Scarlett Bloom, I'm the Luna of the Cresta Pack," I answered as I raised my hands in the air.

"Scarlett? The Alpha's friend? Our apologies Luna, we'll take you to see the Alpha," the warrior answered, bowing her head slightly.

"Thank you," I breathed.

Resting my hands back at my side I breathed in deeply as the world started to spin.

"Luna?" the warriors asked, their voices muffled and buzzing.

"I don't... I don't feel-" my vision swirled with black dots as I collapsed to the sand.

Sitting up in bed I let out a groan.

"Woaw, lie back down Scar," a voice spoke.

Frowning I opened my eyes to see Rin, an old friend I use to play with when we were both learning how to run our Packs. His dark hair was wavy and unkept like always with dark circles underneath his brown eyes.

"What happened?" I asked as I laid back down.

"You don't remember?" Rin asked, surprise on his face.

"I remember leaving my Pack territory. River told me to run and go somewhere else. I came here," I mumbled.

"We haven't heard anything from your Pack, Scarlett," Rin answered.

"River told me to run, Octavius he... He killed my Pack," I mumbled, my heart tightening as I thought about my Pack members.

"We haven't heard anything from the Cresta Pack. We have to assume the worst," Rin spoke, his eyes looking away from me.

"I have to go back then! I have to help River!" I replied.

"Scarlett, in your condition we can't let you leave just yet."

"My condition? There's nothing wrong with me Rin!"

"Scarlett, you seem to forget the details about a Moon Ceremony," Rin spoke, watching me with serious eyes.

"Like what?" I demanded as I sat up.

"Females get pregnant during the Moon Ceremony. Luna's and Alpha's show signs of pregnancy within a day or two or completing the ceremony," Rin answered, his voice calm.

"I only completed the ceremony the other day with River, and he..."

"We've heard that River is your Mate. Almost every Pack has heard about it. Which confirms the test the Healer did earlier."

"But River'" I mumbled, my eyes watering.

"We're sending warriors there soon. We don't know if the Elder's warriors have gotten there yet or not but we'll send warriors as well. So for now, rest," Rin demanded.

Nodding my head I looked up at the white ceiling as silent tears fell down my face. My hands resting on my stomach as I reached for my wolf, hoping that maybe she could reach out to River. Instead all we received was silence.

River

Octavius laughed as I struggled to pull myself up off the ground. My body screamed as I finally stood up, swaying slightly as I did so.

"Give up River," she's going to be mine soon enough," Octavius sneered his dark skin red with blood.

"I won't let you have them," I growled, my heart pounding as my wolf growled in my head.

"Trust me, I will have Scarlett. And once you're out of the picture I'll rip that creature of yours out of her and fill her with one of my own," Octavius snarled in disgust.

I could feel my anger growing as Octavius spoke about Scarlett like that. Like she was some kind of whore that he could take and use as he pleased. She was mine and mine alone.

"I can't let you take her," I growled.

"Trust me, I will be taking her. The same way I took your mother and your sister. And once I get what I want, I'll get rid of her. It's simple really. I just have to get rid of you," Octavius laughed as I lunges at him again.

I let out a howl of pain as something sharp sliced through my ribs. Collapsing to the ground I frowned at the large wound in my side. Octavius clucked his tongue as he held up a bloodied knife.

"Kitchens really do have everything," Octavius muttered as he twirled the knife between his fingers.

"You son of a bitch. Just wait until the Elders Warriors get here," I snarled clutching at my side as the blood continued to flow.

"You'll be dead by then and it won't matter," Octavius answered as he dumped the knife in the sink.

I laughed as the door opened revealing a tall figure holding a bow in one hand and a short sword in another. Frowning at the figure Octavius growled in anger, his feet carrying him across the floor as claws extended from his fingers. Lifting his hand in the air to swipe at the figure Octavius froze. His body still as the sword pointed out from the middle of his back. As the sword was withdrawn from Octavius' body he collapsed to the ground, nothing but silence filled the air.

"W-Who are you?" I asked, my head spinning with pain and dizziness.

The figure said nothing as the approached me. As the figure crouched beside me I realised it wasn't a warrior from the Elders but a warrior of the Wild Hunt. Moving my hand the Elf clicked its tongue in disgust.

"My King sent me," the Elf spoke, it's voice wavered as it spoke a different language. It silvery eyes watching me, waiting for a response.

"But Mani has the deal lifted," I mumbled in confusion. My head pounding in pain as black dots appeared across my vision.

"He did... are dying... sent me ... collect you," the Elf answered, his voice was interrupted by a howl in my ears. One I was unfamiliar with.

"Why?" I muttered.

"Because you owe him."

I bit my lip as I stared up at the wooden ceiling, my heart constricting with pain and realisation. I was dying, no amount of magic could stop that no matter how powerful the being. Or I could join the Wild Hunt and be in a state that was half dead and half alive, one where I wouldn't age no matter the circumstances.

"I..." I paused for a moment as I prayed to the Artemis and Mani. Hoping that somehow, despite all of this. That Scarlett and the little one would be okay. That this was somehow the right choice to make.

"I accept," I whispered. As I closed my eyes I saw the Elf grinning widely. A wicked smirk showing off its sharp teeth.
