third person
Today was the day. Mackenzie was a bit sad to end things with her not-so-loyal boyfriend, but that didn't mean that she didn't love him. But it was unusual to see— Mackenzie was slightly excited to break up with him, she was disappointed anyways.
She had it all planned out— she'd have to talk to him before his basketball practice, around 3:00.
Hayden was feeling a bit guilty though, he had to play dumb with all the students that had been glaring at him and hating on him. He didn't want to hurt her, but actually, he has been cheating on Mackenzie for almost a month. Sophia was getting a bit tired of hiding it, so she had to find some way to let all the secrets out, but Sophia did the right thing, they shouldn't be keeping a secret for too long, but, that still wasn't right.
Mackenzie had woke up with a smirk on her face, she was excited to get fro-yo with Johnny. He had been her crush ever since kindergarten, she even liked him when she was dating Hayden, the only three people who knew about this were Lauren, Annie, and Maddie.
She grabbed a maroon oversized hoodie, black jeans, and the classic white converse. Mackenzie had always liked comfy and oversized attire, it was her thing.

After tons of boring classes, it was dismissal. Clubs were just about to start, so Mackenzie had to be quick when finding Hayden, if she weren't, she'd have to deal with him another day, and Mackenzie didn't really like delaying.
"Hey Hayden, we need to talk." Mackenzie greets him for the first time after that sad day.
"Yeah, we do." Hayden replies, feeling very sorry for what he did, and he should.
They took a seat by the gym bench, Hayden was already in his basketball varsity jersey, so he wouldn't have to be in a rush afterwards.
"So, about the other day. I found out you were cheating, but it's okay, I had a suspicion it was happening." She says trying to suck up the tears that were so close to falling.
"I am so sorry you had to figure it out like that. I would never forgive myself, and you shouldn't too." He says, very disappointed with himself.
"It's okay, Hayden. It's just not meant to be. I'm sorry, but, I have to end things with you. It just can't be," She said, a tear had already fallen and she sadly hadn't bring any tissues. Luckily, Hayden had always carried around a hankerchief like any gentleman would. He handed it to her, and she wiped it away as fast as she could so the conversation wouldn't be too sappy.
"I'm sorry, Mackenzie." He said, even about to cry himself.
"It's okay," She said, leaving him alone by that bench.
Mackenzie was about to release more tears but she was strong. She has always been strong ever since her mom and dad had split up.
Now she had to look for Johnny, they were going to have fro-yo. It was like 6th grade all over again, all the love and drama.
"Hey Kenz," Johnny says he soon waved too.
"Hi Johnny," She says
"Do you still want that fro-yo? Or you still need time? I could always wait," He says
"No, it's okay." She said, which she was saying so much that day. It's okay, it's okay, it's okay.
They had headed to the frozen yogurt place called Frozen Yeti, a pretty popular place in their town.
"How's Lauren and her debate team?" Mackenzie starts the conversation.
"Oh, she's having a competition soon. She's been saying her speech a lot, so much to the point that I already memorized a paragraph from her lines." Johnny grinned, laughing at the idea.
"Anyways, are you auditioning for the school play?" He started another topic.
"I'm not good at acting, but my mom and sister are encouraging me, so, I guess I will." She says
"I am too, kind of sad that it's a romance, Nadia's going to audition, and I'm getting a bit tired of her getting the main girl's spot, I kind of want someone else to be the main girl, you know, maybe someone like you." He said, their cheeks flushed into a thin layer of crimson red.
Little did Mackenzie know, Johnny had liked her too. When he was younger, he wanted to be a priest, but as soon as he saw Mackenzie, he wanted to be a basketball player to impress her, and he did, but that was a time where people would mention cooties, and they believed it, so their feelings for eachother weren't very strong at the time.
They had hanged out for the day, until Johnny had basketball practice. It was a good day for Mackenzie to move on even though she had broken up with Hayden just the hour before. She knew that Annie had liked him, but it was okay, she "ships" them together, but Annie hasn't confessed her feelings, so Hayden thought that Mackenzie liked him, and he had liked her too. Well, had.
It was a great day for Johnny, he had been playing a bit off after he was talking with Mackenzie, but it was all worth it. He liked her, very much. She did too.
They neither didn't really like to admit they had developed feelings for eachother, but it was okay, they just weren't ready.
