Deyla pov
I waited at the huge gate for someone to answer the buzzer. The wind blew my freshly dyed honey blonde hair around my face. I threw my arms around my own body becoming cold from the winter's breeze.
"Im here to see Cherise Bryant..." I said into the speaker once again. The gates opened and I pushed through the buildings' double doors.
"Room 203" a tall older lady directed me.
I walked down the narrow hallway carrying a bag of things I picked up for my mom to occupy herself while being in here. I tapped on her door softly.
"Come in" she said huskly
"I didn't mean to wake you." I told her.
"Omg—deyla.!" She jumped up out of her bed and shuffled towards me in her slippers.
Her hair was straightened out again and her clothes were placed neatly against her body. Her smile was bright, and her skin glowed in the sunlight that peeped through the curtains.
I wrapped my arms around her, pleased by her state of being. "Mama you look good." I said surprised.
"Im getting myself together baby, Im just thankful I didn't get locked up away from you." She wiped her eyes from the falling tears.
"Dont cry I forgive you ." I said holding back tears of my own."
"Your not happy." She said reading me like a book.
"Im okay mama.." I half smiled, brushing her concern off.
"Your not very convincing Deyla Marie.." she patted the seat next to her signaling for me to sit down.
"Its August.." I started. I began to get choked up. " he broke my heart." I mumbled behind my tears.
"Oh baby..." she pouted as she rubbed my back, comforting me.
"You don't have to get into details baby, but listen anybody who hurts you.. dont deserve you." "You may go through heartbreak a million times but dont let it change who you are."
I smiled changing the subject. Here mama I bought a few magazines, word games and books for you.
"Ohh No need I'll be home soon." She said nonchalant.
"What? How?"
"Good behavior, I know what im doing baby."
I nodded.
"Have you spoke to your sister or Chance lately?" She asked.
"Maa—they..." I started
"They what deyla?" She asked scrunching up her face.
"They are...together..." I blurted out.
"Okay—.. you can leave if your going to be talking bullshit." She said angrily.
"Bullshit!? You know whats bullshit! Me waisting my time to see your ungrateful, delusional ass!" I got up from the seat and exited her room. I was fuming, after the effort I put in trying to get back right with her." Its like everyone's goal is to hurt me. I have to start worrying about my own happiness.
I sat in the car trying to calm down before driving off. My dad always told me never drive or go to sleep mad, and I stuck by it to this day.
I pulled out my phone and sent a text to Eric.
Me: busy??
A minute later he was calling. I answered amd laughed into the phone. " I sent a text for a reason eric."
