They say every time you witness death it gets easier. However every sword, every knife and every lifeless pair of eyes just added to the feeling of impending horror that had settled in my gut. I stood in between Canna and Aspen, a Cross-Bow grasped in my shaky hands. As children me and Canna had had many archery lessons, but soon it had became clear she was much better at it than me. So when a Cross-Bow had been thrust towards me by the sandy haired son of Apollo, Will, I had taken it gladly, leaving Canna to grab a Bow. Aspen was holding some reed pipes, which I didn't think usually fell into the "weapons" category. But from the way she was playing Yesterday by the Beatles, I could tell the instrument was deadly. Ivy and Rhea had decided to stay behind to sort out strategy. Thank the gods. I had been trying all day to get her to leave me alone, and it seemed to have payed off, despite how clingy she was.
The battlefield was a sea of purple and orange, each colour trying to hack down the other. Out of the mass there were only a few people I knew. Katie was ferociously fighting a roman guy with a surprising amount of teddies surrounding his waist. Still a child at heart, I guess. Will was on the edge of the field with the rest of the medics, looking after a boy dressed all in black.
"Will let me go back out there, I'm ok." He moaned as Will gently picked him up.
"No Nico it's not safe for you. Three days in the infirmary, doctors orders."
"But Will - "
I was knocked to the ground, my head spinning. Canna attempted to shoot the beast, but instead her arrow just hit an tree, almost decapitating an angry nymph in the process. I scrambled to grab my Cross-bow, which had fell out of my hand when I fell, as the beast, no hellhound, tore into my leg. I screamed as the flesh ripped open, revealing the shiny blood underneath. Where was Will? Last time I'd seen him, he and the other boy, Nico, had been heading off the battlefield; towards a building I presumed was the infirmary.
As my vision started to blur, I saw a girl with straight black hair run right past me. Her vivid green eyes were fixed on a weird spirit-y thing and she didn't even acknowledge my existence. Rude.
The hellhound had me pinned down, its eyes like the black pits of Tartarus. They were boring into me, giving me nowhere else to look as it came towards me again to deliver the killing blow. I stared into the blackness, not blinking, preparing for the blow that would end my life. I didn't feel the pain when it hit me. As my eyes went out of focus I looked to my left and saw an tall Asian girl, oblivious to the fact that she was the Hellhound's new target. It tore her down, easily overpowering her.
"DREW!" I heard someone scream, probably Ivy as she fell, lying next to me. I turned, looking into her warm brown lifeless eyes as my vision faded from grey to black.
Woooo the chapters finally up! Yes, I know its late but someone may have... um... taken forever to...um...write it.
Sorry guys, hope you enjoy anyway!
